Re: HDR on or Off?

It is a bit white washed. I’ve been playing with HDR on since I got a PS4 Pro.

But I just turned it off a few weeks ago and the colors in my sports games really pop a lot better now. Especially NBA 2K and MLB The Show. A LOT more realistic looking.

It will depend on your TV specs, performance, and settings.

Personally, to me HDR is far superior experience visually that turning it off is a nonstarter.

My TV is great. I have a Vizio. It's not that it looks bad with HDR on. But for me I like the colors of the court and the skin texture (in 2K) and the sunlight and grass texture ( in The Show). It just looks better in my opinion without it.

True, it's likely just a preference too. It could be because HDR allows for a more natural and wider range of color and luminance which looks realistic, while the more compressed SDR feed makes it looks brighter and more poppy if your eyes haven't adjusted (in reality there's less range but the overall bottom is raised). People do usually prefer more pop in video games, but similar to how compressed music sometimes appears louder and we associate louder with better. Or like when our eyes are used to Vivid picture mode etc. At the end of the day, we all have our own preferences

Re: HDR on or Off?

Any help as I have a Samsung 2017 Model with 4k UHD curve 78 inch KS9500 ?

any advice as I have been fooling around with all the settings... Should I use game mode, or Dynamic UHD, So many settings..

I also have the new samsung Q series UHD...

Any advice from Samsung owners with these TV's would be great?

Game looks great but I know there are some Tricks to certain settings for the PS4 as well as the tv's's..

thanks in advance

Re: HDR on or Off?

I posted couple of days ago about how the game wasn't very bright and HDR made it darker. Well, it's looked fantastic ever since and I've had hdr on the whole time. Very strange but no complaints now.

Rtings.com has great set ups and picture setting referrals and it is sorted by model they have pretty much every TV to offer performance advice

Starting to question that because I tried those recommended settings and it did nothing. My main issue is when I play with HDR on and visual setting of Sharpest, the lag is horrible.
