Contracts that are expiring, but should not be.

I just noticed that Anthony Rizzo’s contract is up on The Show after 2019 and he’s scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent. In real life (unless I’ve missed something) he has two years remaining on his current deal.

I run 30-team control so I’ll try to make sure I re-sign him to a two year deal but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t slightly concerned that I won’t be able to.

Are there other big name players that have expiring deals that shouldn’t?

Re: Contracts that are expiring, but should not be.

This happens every franchise offseason. If/when a player leaves the team he shouldn’t, I just cut him and have the right team claim him. It’s a problem for budgets but that’s already a losing battle. If I didn’t have my carry over franchise, I’d turn budgets off.

It has to do with options I believe. If a player has team options or player options the show can’t represent them properly so they choose to just have the contract run out without the option years.

Re: Contracts that are expiring, but should not be.

since he isnt happy with his salary in the Show, its probably better that your able to properly compensate him w/o having to wait until 2021 preseason (or after the 2020 season), as far as morale goes. also, looks like he's going to want around $13 mill. you definitely will have an interesting decision to make after the 2019 season, as do the real life Cubbies. Whatever other players with options IRL that arent on the default roster have the same interesting decision IMO. the way I view it in my Show-niverse is players w/player option for 2020 are opting out and players w/team option, the team is opting out. I dont feel like this a stretch because the future is always uncertain and clouded. I'm not going to lie and say it wouldnt be nice to be able to set player/team options beforehand but that is 1 in a list of at least 100 things I wishlisht want added in the future
