Rivalry games tougher?

Any time my Cubs play the Cardinals, Reds, or Brewers in my franchise, each game is a dog fight where any little mistake costs me a game. IDK if there's a "rivalry mechanic" but it sure feels like it. All in my head or legit?

I feel like I play better vs division foes, probably because I play against those lineups so much I'm more comfortable & usually know what to expect.

Those pesky Rays. They always give me trouble. And this is in my year three Yankees chise which started on 17.

Nothing like their current day roster for the most part. They are simply pesky!!!!

From my experiences I would say that there is some sort of mechanic in play that makes rivalry games tougher. I like it that way as they probably should be a bit tougher as guys may try a little harder in those games.

I’m just glad it’s subtle and could rationally be debated and to the point where I would believe either side of the argument of its existence.

If it was like PES I would have a major problem. The difference between normal matches and rivalries(derby’s) is like going from rookie to legend difficulty. It’s quite insane and furthermore a really bad design decision lol.

So I guess if there is such a mechanic, which I do believe there is, it’s done right in the Show. IMO.

two horse race IMO (Cubs-Brewers), Cardinals are a .500 squad, so its imperative to take Pitt & Cincy to the woodshed if you want to win the NL central IMO

I don't think it has anything to do with rivalries or geographic proximity...

In my Franchise I'm the Yankees and so far I've easily beaten the Red Sox (who are doing well otherwise) in every game I've played them with ZERO Drama, but I've had major issues and problems beating the Royals, Tigers and White Sox; all teams doing poorly in my Franchise with no real issues with the Yankees in real life.

I know the Yanks and Royals had beef like decades ago, but I'm not really going to count that now. George Brett is NOT on the current roster for them, lol.
