Does anyone know if there is a way to promote a coach if you fire your manager?

There is not.

You have to fire them from their current position and then hire them as the manager

This is a feature I wish they would add. I'd like to see for example the Braves hire the Reds manager as hitting coach after he is fired or the Mets hire the manager of their AAA minor league squad as their new manager if he's doing a great job. They could then replace him with their current 3rd base coach. In other words, create a carousel where the managers, hitting coaches, pitching coaches, 1st and 3rd base coaches of all 30 mlb, AAA, AA, and A teams are all available to hire, fire, promote, and reassign to other duties within the organization.

I agree. Would be a nice addition.
