Baserunner Standing Still During Pickoff

I just had this happen two games in a row. The CPU throws to first and the runner stands there, making no attempt to move. Has this happened to anyone? Is it a glitch? I’m on auto baserunning and don’t manually steal, if that matters.

Happened to me.

Brock Holt on first, I did not lead him off, did not give him the steal sign, I just watched the pitcher throw over, and the first baseman tag him out.f

Only happened once, but I am on the lookout for why it happened, and if there is something I did that triggered it.

Do you remember if the opposing pitcher was a lefty? Maybe he had a really high pick-off move rating, and the baserunner was caught napping on a snap throw?

I do not remember who was pitching against me, but maybe you can remember?

Both righties, degrom and syndergaard. It was definitely not a usual caught napping play. He literally is frozen even as he’s tagged out.

Happens to me a lot, even with good base stealers. I basically don’t even take leads anymore off first unless it’s Trea Turner

This happens to me all the time. Literally every 5th time they throw over, I get picked off. Most the time, I’m not leading either.

I read somewhere to maybe hit r1 to get runner to dive back? The issue is that often times I have no idea until it’s too late haha.

Yeah. That has happened to me several times in mlbts 18.

I've never seen this. I've seen him caught flat footed and then easily tagged out when attempting to dive back.

Was this using AUTO/MANUAL (ASSIST) baserunning?

This has been an ongoing issue the last 2 years. I've implemented continually hitting R1 during my at bats while awaiting the pitch. Has pretty much become another timing mechanism for me.

I use Manual. But similar to what the OP said, it has happened without taking a leadoff at all. Just a random, sometimes very inconvenient glitch I suppose.

He will literally stand there and wait to get tagged out.

I use auto baserunning, and I never manually steal. I’m actually going to put pickoffs on 0. I don’t know if that will stop them from pickoffs completely, but this glitch’s effect is really very serious and it’s a fair trade off. I rarely ever try to pickoff myself.
