Re: The future of MLB The Show

Out of curiosity I googled the gaming industry earnings. Was $138 Billion. An increase of $16 billion from the previous year.

They’re not hurting.

Does the site you looked at break down the numbers further? I'd be interested to know how much is earned from initial sales vs "post launch" sales (DLC, etc.). In 2017, FIFA Ultimate Team brought in a net revenue of over $800 million (USD). At $59.99 per game, it'd take approximately 12 million units sold to equal that number.

The future of The Show goes where the money is because no matter what, the industry is still a business.

Sorry but I didn’t look that in depth at it. I just read the first paragraph for the number I was looking for and moved on. I have no idea how accurate those numbers are either.

Guess I’d never make it as an investigator reporter haha.

Re: The future of MLB The Show

Went back and read more of the article. Seems like 47% of that $ is from mobile games alone.

So maybe the console game earnings are actually not as strong as I thought.

But I still wouldn’t want to be paying 90$ (120 Canadian?) for a video game. That’d hurt my wallet way too much.

there are a handful of games worth $90 but the vast majority aren't even worth $30 IMO. As for the Show's future, I cant see a price increase until the PSSIX, so we should be good for the next decade.
