    #AutoDefense4Life!!!!

I know that I am in the MAJOR minority when it comes to this. however due to one sick play against me this year I am sheerly amazed at the great animations we get to witness day in and day out due to utilizing this feature.

The play I reference is a bullet hit to the CPU 3rd baseman. Runner on first, he catches it, bobbles it... gets his composure and catches it again... never seen that before ever.

Not to mention the gazillion other plays that we get to see that user-controlled player doubtfully ever get to see even once...

I might give it a shot sometime. But I feel like I would get bored not controlling my defense. I have been playing for about 12 years and I don’t think I’ve ever made a jumping catch other than robbing homeruns. I’ve always struggled with diving catches in the OF. I’ve made some but sometimes/usually I’m way off on my dive. Also I don’t even make great plays on line drives to 3rd. I just don’t have the reaction speed or something. I can definitely see the positives of Auto-defense but I don’t think I can commit to it

For the longest time, I couldn’t understand why anyone would use auto fielding. Then a few years ago I tried it. Not sure I could go back to manual fielding now.

I love that they give us this option.

I've always been an autofielder. I like being drawn into , as a pitcher, trusting the guys behind me to have my back. But for whatever reason, I do like to make all the throws.

Switched to auto fielding for the first time this year. It’s a game changer for me. I won’t be going back to manual anytime soon.

When I used auto-fielding in the past, I'd have to turn it off during the late innings of close games, because more than a few times my outfielders would dive for balls and miss with runners on, allowing the ball to roll all the way to the wall. Wish there were a setting to control that...

I have tried manual fielding one time and felt it robbed me of the eye candy, which has already been referenced by many. I bounce back and forth between manual/auto throwing though.

I get what you mean about the animations but fielding is my favourite part of the game and I can never give it up. I will say: this year the animation gap has closed significantly. Hot shots over the head that require an instant jump and error recovery are two major areas of improvement for the manual fielder this year.

I wish I could have shown off Tim Spier's gem yesterday, a diving stop popped to his knees and nipped a quite speedy Omar Mereno. The entire play was so smooth, the type of play that I almost started clapping. If that were manual play, it would have been a base hit because I just flat don't have the skills to make that play on my own.

Ok here is the biggest gap I see in user vs CPU when it comes to fielding...

can you as a user make the deep in the hole (SS 2B) backhand, jump throw to first or even second base.. and make it look REALISTIC?

better yet, can you make the Brooks Robinson style running play and throw 10 plus feet outside of 3B and make it look realistic?

once you guys can do that every play every game... then we can talk lol

when I watch Youtubers (content creators( play online... it looks soo freaking clunky.. not smooth...

yes, it takes great well, adequate hand-eye to do fielding I get it.

I have been screaming since the advent of online in this game for the OPTION of auto fielding for online. if online users would at least watch a game CPU v CPU or a few they would understand why this game is VERY difficult to code for user-controlled fielding.

why struggle to make plays or have to complain about "broken' fielding when it really isn't...

ok morning (before coffee) rant over... lol...

Does using Auto Fielding make you earn less XP per game? My gut says yes, but I can't seem to verify.
