User Diving Catches Versus AI Diving Catches

You: Like jumping in your bed scaring your girlfriend. You have no lift. You have no skill. You just jump just because. The landing is going to be soft.

AI: Superman gliding in the air with perfect precision, speed and timing.

I have done a lot of extraordinary things in the Show games the past few years, but I will not understand how badly diving catches are on my end and then see the AI make Sportscenter highlight diving plays every single game multiple times. I would be fine if it was someone with high fielding, but this happens with people who have no business doing this.

It's all about angle, judgement, and timing. Poorly timed dives will unlock the awkward barely trying animation, but well timed ones will give you the highlight reel catches.

I will admit though, the ratio of bad dives to great ones is painfully stilted towards the CPU on default settings. I play with errors on 10 though, and the CPU making a great diving play is rarer.

The easy way to fix this is splitting the fielding sliders instead of making it a universal change.

I see the AI making diving grabs at least twice in a span of 3 games. Sometimes more than twice a game. Meanwhile my Brandon Belt can’t nab a slow ground ball while Eric-freaking-Jagielo with his same 55 reaction as Belt is robbing Josh Donaldson left and right.

Split the fielding sliders between CPU and User.

Other than robbing homeruns, I don’t think I’ve ever made a jumping catch, going back 11-12 years of playing. Diving catches should be improved too. With outfielders it’s too hard to time or even know where to jump because the indicator doesn’t show where the ball is going to land, just where you should stand to catch it
