Will Online Franchise return?

I haven't heard a peep about Online Franchise again this year and i'm worried they aren't bringing it back. Has anyone heard anything about that?

It was my favorite mode to play with friends in years past. It always kept the game fresh into the offseason because of the ability to play friends with custom updated rosters. Not sure why they even removed it to begin with. Such a great mode.

The servers were horrible that's why they got rid of it. Maybe they used some of that DD money for the Custom Leagues though we don't know if they are DD related or Online Franchise related until the streams come out. I would hope they have the capacity to handle however many people they have using said servers.

I had a friend go out and buy MLB 17 the other day just to join a new online franchise. I play exclusively offline, but there’s definitely a huge online franchise audience.

All we know for now is what the trailer and livestream schedule notes revealed. The custom leagues and competitive events stream is on the 27th. In the notes for that stream it says “simple and flexible leagues with your friends”. If it’s not mentioned in the RTTS and regular franchise stream I’d guess we’ll have to wait till the stream on the 27th or at least closer to it to find out about that.

I don't know what else that would be other than online franchise. I play offline but it does appear online is back.

I would be surprised if it was an actual franchise type setup like we had. I am thinking something very simple where you can get a group of people together and play in a controlled environment. I would not be opposed to a DD league either where you set the breakdown of the number of diamonds, golds, silvers, bronze etc on the teams.
