It’s the year 2037 in my franchise and my budget has dipped to 165 million per year. It has been as high as 225 million per year. We have won eight World Series titles. Anyone else seeing this issue?

(Seriously though I don't know. I've given up trying to understand the game's budget system.)

It's because the system doesn't use "real" contract values. When they put real contracts in they left the old system in place that values players. I have even seen this year the value to closers lower than previous years.

Top players get paid. Everyone else gets less in free agency than they do in arbitration years. I hope they patch it.

I’m still not sure how that makes my yearly budget drop every year. What am I not understanding?

How do we even know the budget we have available? In the budget screen I see only income and expenditures, then on the coaches screen I seen their total payments.

I'll give a small example.
Team A
2020
Closer 12 million last year arbitration
RF 13 Million Last year arbitration
2b 15 million final year of deal

2021
Closer Free agent contract 5.5 mil year
RF 8 mil per year free agent contract
2b 5 mil per year contract

That played out over team roster is how the budget declines. The real contracts were never properly implemented. Logic for trades and contracts was never changed with it. It's the reason I never used real contracts when we could edit them ourselves.
