Re: Umpire tendencies

If you do “perfect” option if you clip the very edge of the strike zone is that a strike still ?

Re: Umpire tendencies

The umpires' mechanics and motions look like they are out of the 70s. I know it's probably really low on the priority list, but it would be awesome to see umpires improved in the future.

Definitely need to fix the strike zone though! By rule, any part of the ball over any part of the plate meeting the correct height requirements is a strike.

I use the perfect option and I swear borderline calls arent called correctly all of the time. Maybe Im just crazy.

I've seen pitches 100% inside the strike zone called a ball while a pitch 100% out of the zone at the same height and on the same side of the batters box called a strike....in the same AB. I was thinking that if a real life ump was that bad he wouldn't be at the major league level.

I really have not seen any difference with umpires. The announcers talk about what kind of ump is behind the plate but the calls the umps make are not what was discussed.

I do play MoM so maybe the umpire thing doesn't matter playing that way.

Re: Umpire tendencies

One thing I've noticed as a meter pitcher is that if its a borderline pitch, how accurate I am with the meter sways the call.

In other words if I miss my mark where the catcher is "set" then the call usually gets called a ball. If I hit the mark so my catcher doesn't have to his glove, it usually gets called a strike.

Re: Umpire tendencies

I've been keeping track of the umps during my franchise and these are the commentary for them so far.

Ricky Holliday (inconsistant)
Dave Lawrence (outside)
Mathew Ross (wide strike zone)
Darryl Parker (Sm K-Zone Moves around)
Clyde Washington (Low ball k-zone)
Kenny Janzen (Sm k-zone calls low Strikes)
Jerry Hillsdale (hitters Ump)
Rusty Valentine (north south)
James Kingsley (Good Ump)
Larry Bullard (Good Ump)
Carl Dixon (High strike)
Joe MacDonald (Zone fluxuates)
Earl Hendricks (one side of plate)
Clyde Washington (Low ball k-zone)
Ed Drummond (Good Ump)

Yup.That's how they're described, but they don't call the game the way they're described.
