This is more so for an entire season. It is currently the trade deadline July 31st of season 3....but let's rewind to a season ago. The Rays and Asstros, both in contention made a blockbuster swap. The Asstros received Blake Snell, and in return the Rays received Yordan Alvarez. Both were similarly rated, Alvarez a 90 and Snell a 91. Asstros were desperate for pitching due to the massive decline in Verlander, and Snell made their rotation very formidable with McCullers, Urquidy (who always has a sub 3 ERA for them), and Whitley. It worked for the Asstros in the short term as they made the WS before losing to the juggernaut 114 win Dodgers. Alvarez provided some much needed thump to the Rays lineup as well.
Now fast forward to July 31st of 2022. Alvarez is currently slashing .403/.480/.803. Yes you saw that right brah is hitting over 400 with 2 months left in the season. He also has 41 HR, and 103 RBI. It's been absolutely remarkable to witness. I was unable to get him out when we played. I even intentionally walked him with the bases loaded up 3 in the 9th. I think he went something like 8 for 13 with 4 HR's in the 3 game series. Now even though Snell has been a rock for the Asstros, he currently has an ERA of 3.44, it's safe to say the Rays won that trade.
