Home Team v. Away Team

I can't find a thread for this, but I have to ask...

There has GOT to be an advantage playing as the home team vs playing as the away team online right? Something is fishy. Every away game I'm late on everything. Can't square up a ball. Every home game? I score 12.

What's up.

Out of curiosity, how many of your players have the "Homebody" quirk, or lack the "Road Warrior" one?

Those two quirks existing are why I don't believe that there is a built-in home field advantage or an away disadvantage - it would make those two quirks redundant. If a majority of the players on a team have one of those traits or the other, it could be having an impact on the outcome of games.

Basically, while I don't believe it exists, I could see those quirks creating a similar effect.

It just happens, there's nothing really to explain. Maybe the home park you play in lends itself to weird carroms off the OF fence. Idk

Re: Home Team v. Away Team

I'm the complete opposite. There's a good chance, as @stateofthefranchise said that it has a lot to do with your home stadium.

I've got a Jays franchise on the go, and Rogers center is a tough spot to play. Not because of the actual field, but because there's so much going on in-stadium, that it lags on a regular basis. When pitching, the rolling advertisement screen behind the catcher helps screw it around. When hitting, you can almost feel when it's about to lag (Best to step out, or take a practice hack).

On the road, because the majority of games are against AL East opponents, who play in pretty standard stadiums, everything seems a lot smoother, and I can mash.

Re: Home Team v. Away Team

Do stadiums have any real impact?

I recently played a 4 game series in Houston and saw a total of 4 HRs and both teams managed a BA under .240. We were playing against the Angels, not exactly a strong pitching team.

We (Astros) then went to Oakland and had 5 HRs in the first game and Oakland had 2 of their own and both teams combined for 21 hits. Seeing as Houston is supposed to be a hitter's park and Oakland isn't, it seems there is no real stadium affect in the game.

Also, when the Dodgers play at home, I don't see any difference in offense than when they are in Colorado.

Before the words "small sample size" comes up, this has been typical for the past 4 versions of the game. Stadiums don't seem to matter. At least I see no difference.

I don't think they matter with the "No Doubt Hr" Animation, but other HRs I think the stadium plays a role. At the bare minimum I'm sure the wind is different for each park and therefore affects how the ball plays.

Re: Home Team v. Away Team

Stadiums, wind, temperature, time of year, and time of day all play a part in how the ball carries during any given game.

Re: Home Team v. Away Team

I think you you have to be the home team fo the comeback code to kick in?

but seriously, I guess homefield advantage is less pronounced in baseball than other sports?
