Prepare to be blown!!!

If they could only reduce the loading times with 75% because of the insane ssd drive in the ps5 I would already be happy. Multiple game moments would be less of a headache haha.

Furthermore I really hope they upgrade the grass and dirt with the ps5 release. No more “breadcrumbs” on the dirt but proper 3d details in the terrain. Grass looking like actual grass when at bat/pitching instead of a flat mat. Weather going from sunny to rain, open buttons on jerseys, better looking long hair players etc.

from what I'm hearing ps5 load times will be practically non-existent

Fingers crossed! I'm pretty sure I remember them saying the same thing during development of the PS4, but then they couldn't implement it.

They will improve, no doubt, and all signs indicate that there will be no consumer grade equivalent at launch on PC.

I would imagine it won't take long for the tech to come to PC, both because of the nature of competition and also because Sony is making a clear push to get a lot of their studio titles on PC.

The tech does a lot to speed up load times, no doubt, but it also enables developers to stop doing certain optimizations (like baking assets). That may have a negative impact on load times.

To be clear, the PS5 load times will still be faster than the PS4, no doubt about that. But some of the tech may be used to cut down on optimizations. There is still a significant upside for the consumer, as it will make games significantly easier to make and therefore lead to bigger and better games or faster development, it just may not always be in the form of eliminated load times.

To be clear, it still could be. I'm not an expert on this specific topic. However my best understanding is that it will have an impact on in game load times (entering new areas, LOD optimization, etc) the game boot time could potentially be just as long as if it were a traditional SSD. Which to be clear, is still pretty darn fast.

That haptic feedback though.

Now that MLB The Show will not be a Sony exclusive, I'm going back and forth between PS5 and Xbox Series X. I'm leaning towards raw horsepower.

There is honestly not that much of a difference, and I think the hard drive is the much bigger deal.

In the end it's the games that matter though. If you have a good PC I wouldn't ever bother with the Xbox. Because your PC is an xbox. If not then focus on the exclusives that matter most to you. Hardware should be an afterthought.

The PS5 hard drive has the potential to be a game changer, but the same could have been said about the cell processor in the PS3. There are no guarantees that potential gets utilized.
