Play-by-play/Commentary

It needs to be better. Talking more about stats would be an easy fix and far less repetitive than hearing Mark DeRosa talk about how the game has changed or how he couldn't hit the slider.

If their going to continue to jibber jabber then they need to record at least 10 times the amount of audio next year. I would like to hear more stuff relating to the teams stat wise though.

Re: Play-by-play/Commentary

once I get my season underway, I only play with commentary on for Saturday games.

I can hear all I need to in less than 30 games.

Re: Play-by-play/Commentary

More biographical info about each player. Split it up where you hear a little here and a little there so it doesn’t become repetitive (talk about their birthplace here, where they went to college another time, their strengths and weaknesses there, awards/milestones another time. If you do these things with every player and mix it up, you’re going to hear a lot of different information. Add the play by play in and it will never get tiring or repetitive IMO. Just don’t limit it to the same info every single time a player walks up to bat or takes the mound.

How about a Vin Scully add-on?

Commentary is one of the weakest aspects of The Show every year in my opinion.....

I think it’s quite good, actually. It’s about a 7/10 or thereabouts. My complaint is that I don’t think Matt was a very good choice, with his fairly high-pitched and nasally voice, and his generally upbeat and cheery inflections, I just don’t think it sounds very good.

Compare MLBTS with the 2K games with Jon Miller and Joe Morgan. It’s not that Jon and Joe had better lines or more to say, they just sounded a hundred times better.

And forgive me if I’m being repetitive as I’ve made this point several times in the past, but a neat little trick to “deal with” commentary is to turn it the heck down. Like I’m talking four or five clicks from the left. It’s BLASTING on default. Try to get it so they just kind of bleed into the rest of the ambiance instead of being so right in your face. Works for me, I don’t even turn it off anymore.
