Xbox series X and Xbox One online

Does anyone know if you can play online leagues with someone on an Xbox One version of the game if you have the Series X version? I know when Madden was released for the Series X I couldn't do my online franchises with my buddies that had the One version.

Hmmm that's strange. I was able to play madden leagues with my friends on PS5 when I had the PS4. I'm pretty sure MLB is cross platform
