Preload is live?

Mods feel free to edit with a more certain title if more people can confirm....this is a thing happening on my PS5 right now:



The smaller one appears to be PS4, and the larger PS5 (I got the all-digital Jackie Robinson edition). It's worth noting that I did play the tech test and in fact still have it installed, but this appears to be completely separate as it is starting both of these from scratch.

I don't expect to be able to play either of these when they finish, but regardless this is still REALLY early for a preload. I didn't expect a week ahead of time.

Edit: I also now have two MLB '21 icons on my home screen - one says PS4 and the other doesn't give a platform, but is pretty obviously PS5. I can also launch the tech test from there under Game Version if I press Options on it (and it does say PS5 on that pop-up box).

Great news and this is what The Show website states: expected download date is 09Apr @ 12:00.

I was curious how the dual entitlement would work with the digital copy. I haven't pre-ordered yet, but will now.

Looks like its just the Jackie Robinson editions that can be preloaded right now. I just bought the regular edition of The Show 21 and that preload is later.

Yeah, that makes sense. I wonder if the standard editions will be preloadable Tuesday AM then (a week ahead of that version's release)?

I thought preloads were always 2 days ahead of launch and not a full week.

They are, usually. This is a pretty surprising exception.

The last one that did it on a game I purchased was Red Dead Redemption 2.

My auto load is downloading the PS4 version while the PS5 version is waiting. Do both versions need to be installed?

They both shouldn't have to download. You should be able to delete the PS4 version from the hard drive and just keep the PS5

You should only have to download the PS5 version, that is unless you want both versions to try them out. This whole cross platform thing on PlayStation and downloading the right one has been a mess so far. The same thing happened to me where it downloaded current and next gen versions of Control. And for all I knew that’s what I had to do to play next gen. Nope lol. Where on Xbox, Smart Delivery works flawlessly and you just get the version you want to have and it’s so easy. Hopefully Sony figures this out sooner than later.

Thanks for the replies! I had paused the ps4 before heading to work and letting the PS5 download. I will just cancel the PS4 later today.

Cool. This is especially annoying when you have data caps on your internet usage, and are downloading games you don’t want unnecessarily lol.

Where are you seeing that number? I seen 44gb for the PS4 and 59gb for the PS5.

I am waiting until next weeks stream before pre-ordering. If that means it is not ready to play right at 11:00 pm my time then so be it.

I need to see what they have done to DD before I commit.
