Country,

Did you touch the injury slider or did those 2 injuries just happen “ naturally”? That has to be quickest I’ve seen somebody suffer 2 injuries in a Franchise in a while.

Can you turn on universal DH after year 1 or are you stuck with the settings you set initially?

Cardinals take opening series from Reds

The Cardinals started the 2021 campaign on the right foot taking 2 of 3 from the Reds in Cincinnati to start the season.

The Cardinals won the series opener and then the Sunday finale, with both wins coming via the shutout.

Paul Goldschmidt had a series collecting 4 homeruns and 6 RBI's. Paul DeJong also hit the ball well collecting 4 hits in 8 at bats to go with 3 walks.

Adam Wainwright was beat up in his start on Saturday as he only lasted 4 innings before being knocked out of the game. He allowed 6 runs over those 4 innings.

The Cardinals will travel to Miami for a 3 game series with the Marlins before heading home next weekend for their home opener.

Re: MLB The Show 21 Franchise Discussion Thread

On HOF hitting and Legend pitching I’m 6-6 with the Cubs. Bryant has 6 home runs and 16 RBI. I’ve made a ton of errors including 5 in one game. Embarrassing. I’m really liking it this year I used to be strictly directional hitting but I switched to zone this year. I would say I’m not that bad since I just started but I gotta lotta work to do.

I do injuries a little differently by quick simming the game first to see if injuries occur. RELOAD the game save and play it. Sub out guys when they were injured in the Sim. I do this so every injury that occurs in the league is from the same slider setting of injuries set on 6. Very rarely do injuries happen in a game too so it makes more sense to do it this way to me, and much more challenging dealing with an actual realistic amount of injuries throughout a grueling 162 game season like irl.

Sonny Gray with an inflamed nerve only pitched 1.2ip before the injury. He will not miss any starts thankfully though. And Lucas Sims also with an injury in the game. A big one, torn finger ligament and will be out a little over a month.

After playing the game I change to manual injuries and create these, using random number generator app to decide days injured with whatever injury they have. A real bummer with Sims as he was a quality setup guy. RP Josh Osich will be called up to replace Sims for the time being.

We are 3-3 on the young season with a three game set on the road vs the Pirates next, who are 2-4 so far in the season.

@ Pittsburgh Pirates series:

14-5 W (Castillo 1-0; Keller 0-1)
4-3 W (Mahle 1-1; Brault 0-2)
3-5 L (Lorenzen 1-1; Cahill 2-0)

Couldn't finish the series sweep but once again taking 2 of 3 for the third straight series to begin the season.

Key injuries around the MLB:

Mets P Carlos Carrasco out 1-2 months

Phillies C J.T. Realmuto out 1-2 months

Cubs C Wilson Contreras out 1-2 months

Reds RP Lucas Sims out 1-2 months

Cardinals CF Harrison Bader out 1-2 months

D Backs C Stephen Vogt out 1-2 months

Giants 3B Evan Longeria out 1-2 months
Giants RF Mike Yastrzemski out 1-2 months

Indians LF Jake Bauers out 2-3 months

We are now 5-4 on the season and have a short two game series at home vs the division leading Brewers who are a game up on me with a 6-3 record. Odd start for them by getting swept by the Cubs to start the season. Then have swept both the Cardinals and Phillies, and on a 6 game win streak.

I am playing MLB 20 with updated 2021 rosters and on ps4. I bought 2020 game in August of last year and never really got into playing it much at all, so it's for me still a fairly new game and with rosters updated I am pretty happy with what I have going.

Arenado Homers Twice
Cards Fly High on Opening Day

Nolan Arenado made his St Louis debut one to remember with his first multi-HR game of the season in a 10-3 rout on Thursday afternoon at The Great American Ballpark.

The story early on was the effectiveness of CIN starter Luis Castillo, who fanned 9 of the first 10 Cardinal hitters he faced.

Dylan Carlson finished the game 3 for 5 including solo HR in the top of the 4th to break a 0-0 tie. The Cardinal offense would not look back from there, adding 9 more runs over the final 5 innings.

Starter Jack Flaherty lasted 5 1/3 innings surrendering 4 hits while striking out 5. Neither starter surrendered a walk.

Arenado cranked a 2 run HR in the top of the 5th and followed that up with a solo shot in the 9th to cap off his first game wearing the birds on the bat

Matt Carpenter chipped in with a pinch hit 3 run HR in the 8th inning off reliever Tejay Antone

The Cardinals and Reds are back at it on Saturday afternoon as Adam Wainwright will match up against Sonny Gray
