I've noticed when fielding ground balls and throwing to first, you can actually see the seams of the baseball while the ball is traveling in the air. Never noticed before (still on PS4 so it's not a PS5 exclusive)

In Retro Mode, when you strike someone out, the batter might pull a homage to the old SNES Ken Griffey Jr Game, where they break their bats over their knees and yell at you! LOL!

When playing in Franchise mode, Opening Day now has the ribbons added to the broadcast banner. That I thought was a nice touch.

Animations though subtle have made a difference for me.

I was watching a game-can’t remember the centerfielder but a shot was hit into the gap- the centerfielder took off after it and you really didn’t know if he was going to get to it or not- he was tracking it and and finally reached up and grabbed it. The camera angle on this plus the animation showed his speed and his ability.

It really “Felt” as though he took away a double. Seems that fielders now play differently-

Of course I would still like to see a hitter who has a 98 mph pitch come inches away from his head MOVE away or duck away. There seems to be the basic three animations for this - would like to see some others for immersion

But the more I play the more I see- sweet

I have noticed on the Series X when selecting a pitch all the grass textures switch from 3D to a flat green surface like an old retro baseball video game.

The new hitting animations are a complete breath of fresh air. Seeing much more of a variety of swing follow throughs and when making contact with the ball. It all looks very natural and life like.

I was up to bat yesterday took a swing and missed and the bat flew out of my hands, there was no cut scene to stands but it was cool to see.
