It's good that they have worked on them being called but they are HORRIFICALLY inaccurate. The bat will barely move and the ump will say I went to far. Then the little feedback box will show my bat basically doing a 3/4 swing lmao. Literally my player does basically a little shoulder hesitation. Not even exaggerating. There's like 3 different animations for checks and there is no consistency in calling them. It's basically random if they'll call it a swing or not.

Personally I hope they leave them as they are. I feel like the balance is great between being able to check a swing and unable to hold up.

The feedback in the box, I don't pay any attention to, because on check swings it will show that the ball was in a different spot in the zone, so I'm not sure the swing feedback on check swings is working properly.

This is with using zone hitting and after having played nearly 100 full games thus far, for disclosure.

The problem is that your personally ability to check / the players ability to check has nothing to do with user / player skill assuming the inputs are correct. The ability to check is tied to the distance of the ball compared to home plate.

Imagine you draw a line from the pitcher to home plate... It's basically that a 3rd of the way to home from the pitcher is checkable with no issue (shoulder flinch / you started swinging way too early anyway), the middle way portion is a grey area that could go either way ( with the possibility to ask the ump / this is ok timing wise) and once the ball gets within a certain range of the batter it's impossible to check ( you were never going to hit the ball anyway but you should still be able to prevent the player from committing to swinging all the way through).

The issue is amplified with faster pitch speeds because you have so little time to react. It's borderline impossible to check on higher difficulties with faster pitch speeds using directional hitting because the cards are stacked against you. If you're early you can check but if you're late it won't let you even try to check.

The feedback box isn't a 1 to 1 replay of what actually happened. If it is called a strike then the feedback is just going to play an animation showing you went around. If it is said you held up then it plays one showing you held up. It doesn't actually "remember" what you did and replay the actual bat motion.

just fyi: I can remember that at least 1 time when I got a called strike, the animation showed i didn't break homeplate, so would've been a ball. it still wasn't accurate compared to my actual swing, but i found it a nice feature they displayed the difference between the call and the swing.
But as you said, it doesn't replay the actual bat motion.

That's not always true.

Plenty of times I've held up and the replay box shows that I went around and vice versa.

I don't think the swing feedback is working properly on checked swings, because it will often times show the pitch placement in a completely different area than the ball was actually located.

It still isn’t balanced. Before strikes were never called on check swings, now they’re nearly always called.

I have had several checked swings called strikes by 1st or 3rd base ump. Very frustrating! I can live with these calls if it is built in to umps imperfections. But given how sensitive checked swings are this year, I would like to see a higher percentage of checked swings be correct calls.

That said, I have also gotten the benefit of no swing on some calls I clearly didn't check.
