I use only location, mostly i use it to improve plate dicipline and to create a fantasy scenario based on the player that is at the plate.

My house rule is that with aggressive hitters (players that dont walk) I only swing on 0 strike counts if I guess correctly, with patient(players that walk a lot) hitters i change that rule to 1 strike counts, so I only swing without guessing if its a 2 strike count.

Mostly I try to guess the pitch based on the hitters hotzones, but I change this sometimes depending on the pitcher (if its a sinker pitcher i tend to guess more down in the zone for exemple).

Thanks bro so u mention you hot zones when you guess do you guess like left right up down or do you do the up left up right how do you do it and i hate that they change the guess location so that it happens at the last second. I miss the old days. That why i was wondering if i should guess pitch also cuz it will give you the guess ahead of time

I try to focus on the most red zone of the player, if its up and in ill aim there.
And yeh, I agree with u. but i guess we are a very few plp that actually uses this feature now days

Im too old for zone hitting or having incredible plate dicipline to emulate stats, this helps me alot.

            Re: Guess pitch

I would say just as irl, always be ready for the fastball and react to any other pitch. So I'd say guess location only and assume a fastball is coming and react to anything else.

But if you want to emulate more real life I would guess pitch type only and not location. Cause we know every pitch thrown the batter is guessing or preparing in his mind for a particular pitch. Guessing fastball every time would be what I'd do if I used the feature, and just read location as it comes to you. Since you'll know the speed and type of break (or none), hitting should become much easier for you.

As for hot zones, I suggest turning that off. Leaving it on will inevitably not allow you to fully focus on location if you're always looking to the same spot IMHO. And tbh Idk if a ball in a "cold or hot" zone actually boosts or lowers contact or power attributes for the hitter anyway. I've never read or heard anything on hot/cold zones doing anything to attributes. If it does that'd be cool but I've never heard they do anything at all tbh.

I use to do both pitch type and location. However, I just recently stopped all together, and I gotta say, I've been hitting 10X better

Yea my hitting got noticeably better when I stopped using it.

If I did use it though I’d only guess fastball in hitters counts.

Yeh, I use the dark red (hot) and light red (cold) as reference usually.
And yes, I use directional, although I dont use any of the influences (directions), so its like Im using Classic hitting, just swing.

                          Bright colors are more extreme

                          Bright Red - super hot
                          Dull Red - hot
                          Black - no real boost
                          Dull Blue - cold
                          Bright Blue - super cold

I just use regular swing, default sliders.

Im hitting .267 in my franchise mode playing on all star through about 80 games in the season... My team is tied 7th in Home runs and 9th in Slugging. But my team is quite bumped from the original A's... got some big bats to complement Chapman, Olson etc...

                            For that specific player yes.

                              Re: Guess pitch

I guess high fastball on every single pitch, if applicable. I've been playing the game through two whole console directions, and its the only way I can have any success.

On a 0-0 count, if its not a high fastball, I don't swing. And from that point, I don't swing until I get a strike on me or I see a high fastball. It helps me get deep into the count, and finally in 20, actually draw some walks for once in my life.

If the pitcher doesn't throw a fastball (or at least a cutter), I'm in trouble. Especially if he throws a lot of junk below the zone. Basically then I just wait until I have two strikes and hope to get lucky.

14 years of practice, and this is all I've got. I'm not getting better, lol. So don't feel bad about using the tools to make the game as fun as it can be for you as an individual. You don't have to try and be awesome like some guys are.
Anyone who claims to be a fan of two teams in the same pro sport is actually a fan of none.
