Let’s say my player has his contact rating high should I use the contact button to hit or normal same as if my guy has a high power rating should I swing for power or normal or contact

Re: Batting ratings
So, power swing and contact swing basically give a boost to the one and take away from the other while normal swing uses 100% whatever your stats are.
So if you hit perfectly with power swing you will get a boost you didn’t get with contact or regular swing but it’ll be harder to hit.
This is how it always has worked in the past but there is some debate that it might not work that way quite as much as it used to.
There is though no perk for having high in one or the other and that being the swing you should use cause. If you wanna add power and lose contact use power swing, wanna add contact and lose some power use contact, want to just use stats as are yo regular.
The strategy for most times is contact swing will give you a better chance to make contact so in two strike situations it becomes a better swing choice to try and get a better chance to not strike out. -

I use...
normal swing on 0-0,1-0,0-1,1-1,2-1,3-2
Power swing on 2-0 and 3-1
Contact swing on 0-2,1-2,2-2Comment

Re: Batting ratings
Contact swings are not right at the moment and have too much exit velocity, so it's really the best swing. Disregarding that, as explained above, they have their situations. I usually never power swing, but contact swing on every 2 strike count minus a full count with nearly all hitters. Guys like Acuna and Freeman I'll normal swing basically all AB, but most players I contact swing in those 2 strike non full counts.

So basically contact swings on all two counts everything else is x normal. Re: Batting ratings
On paper not too much, you will odds are have a very high avg due to making more contact on hits.
That said balls out of the park will be much less, but that doesn’t mean you won’t hit some. I find you can still get them but I end up far more in the park than I do with normal swing.Comment

Re: Batting ratings
I'm curious how time affects this. My son has a slightly uphill swing, but I think his timing is not right, resulting in pops up. Meaning he got on the plane with the ball, but it was too late. Does that result in pop-ups? Does that make sense?Comment

Re: Batting ratings
All depends on the hitter, the count, and the game situation.
If you desperately need a base hit of any kind and you have a good contact hitter up, use the contact swing and you have a very good chance of at least getting the bat on the ball.
If it's late in the game, you're down multiple runs, and you have runners on base, power swing is more likely to ensure that any contact takes the ball out of the park and brings the runners home.Comment

Re: Batting ratings
It all depends on what you’re trying to accomplish.
I might take a power swing with a contact guy under certain conditions and vice versa, but this is ultimately going to turn into a discussion about hitting in general at that point.
As a general rule you should always be trying to do *something* at the dish, and what that is is what determines what sort of swing to use.
Sometimes I’ll use nothing but contact swings with everyone, because everyone’s sucking. Other times it’ll be my entire plan to bait the pitcher into letting me line up a power shot.
It really just all depends.Just one man’s opinion.
I don’t actually care about any of this.Comment

Seems to me that the official scorer could go either way. I believe it’s no different for an outfielder to field the ball on a hop than an infielder, if he likely would have been out with a good throw, I could definitely see it being scored an error.Comment
