Re: "And a checked swing, did he go around??? ..."
How in the world did you manage that? I get called for going around 90% of the time even if I only pressed the button for a millisecond. It’s absolutely infuriating how stupid they made the check swinging this year. -

What hitting mechanic are you using?
I use zone hitting and its roughly a 50/50 coin flip as to whether I checked up or went around.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Definitely 1000% more difficult this year to check swing. I swear I press the x button same pressure I did MLB 20 and it says I went around. Getting used to it and I've gotten better, but it's taken me almost 70 games to get to that point lol. I will admit last year it was far too easy as it was very rare I was called for a strike so it did need to be harder, they just went a tad overboard with it imo.

But while it may be less forgiving, and even need to be balanced a bit more, its an improvement over '20 and '19 because I could damn near press the button all the way down and the ump wouldn't ring me up. I would be shocked, absolutely shocked (yes I borrowed from Mark DeRosa) if a check swing was called a strike in '20.
Now curious as to what hitting mechanic you use?I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Thanks
Please know I'm not trying to discredit your experience nor anyone else's, I'm curious if its more "out of balance" with one hitting mechanic versus another.
Another question, does adjusting any sliders (timing window) help with the issue?I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I’m with you , i like the fact it’s harder now. My complaint is they disconnected the Discipline rating from the formula.Oh its definitely 1000% harder than last year

No issues if it’s more realistic but some hitters are better than others and it’s not factored anymore :-(Comment

Re: "And a checked swing, did he go around??? ..."
I understand that complaint and agree that I wish there was a rating involved that allowed hitters who are better at "changing their mind mid-swing", to have more success at checking up versus someone who isn't. But the discipline rating, at least how it was implemented previously, wasn't it. Maybe this development cycle they will find middle ground in how its done.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Yes no doubt needed balanced cause exactly as you said I could darn near fully press X before and it be a check swing. I use Directional hitting interface. I don't think that matters, it's still pressing X to swing regardless if you're manually moving a PCI circle or not.Oh its definitely 1000% harder than last year

This is my biggest issue about it. The discipline and vision attributes don't seem to matter when check swinging anymore. I always liked how I could check swing easier with Carlos Santana vs a hitter with low discipline and vision.

Re: "And a checked swing, did he go around??? ..."
I never mess with the sliders because the gameplay is just right for my taste.
Literally my only complaints this year are the check swings being nonsensical now and that they inexplicably took out being warned for hitting a batter after giving up a homerun.Comment

so you were the pitcher and not the batter/batting?
all I know is every Show ump has CPU DNA in their blood and unfairly biased to their CPU managed brethren

its totally borked this year. It's random. when u check the replay, the bat will go past the plate or not, but the call is totally random!! it's broken!Comment

Re: "And a checked swing, did he go around??? ..."
I just realized there were so many replies under this post, I was bemoaning the fact that the computer can pretty much take a full swing at a pitch in this game and ALWAYS get waved off by the first base ump.
It's maddening.Comment
