    Re: Stealing Bases

    Here's what I do:

    (PS4)

    * Press L2 to que steal prior to pitcher coming set

    * Once pitcher is set and he's checked the runner, I'll press L1. Make sure to do this prior to him starting his windup. Just be mindful he may throw over after taking additional lead

That's it. Sometimes I'm successful, sometimes I'm thrown out and at times I'm picked off. But this is what I do, and have done for years, and its worked for me. I have stolen bases with Goldschmidt, Arenado and even have one with Molina using this method.

I've also had the likes of Harrison Bader, Tommy Edman, and other fast guys thrown out using this method so its no guarantee.

    Hope this helps.

        Really good advice right here.

One thing I will add to the discussion, is this.....

You really have to pick your spots. Steal when you think the pitcher may throw a breaking ball/offspeed pitch. That extra half second you get can mean all the difference in the world.

Just like hitters are selective as to what pitches they swing at, you also have to be selective on what pitches/counts you attempt to steal on.

            Re: Stealing Bases

Yeah, I agree that it really is pitch selection too. It's all hit or miss. I think they do a great job with base stealing to real life. It's the most over looked aspect of the gameplay.

Also, I think last year, I saw a video where someone would hold l2, I think then release it at the time the pitcher was throwing home and it would give a big start.
