MLB Next Gen Presentation Opportunities

One area that I hope MLB continues to evolve in on next-gen platforms is the presentation.

Watching the postseason this year, I’ve seen this commercial several times, and the “team/uniform select” screen (from 0:18-0:25) and how it immediately transitions into “gameplay” is beautiful. I tend to lean more true-broadcast in my presentation preferences, so I’m not asking for this exactly, but it gets my dreaming about what MLB could become over the next few years on next gen hardware.

I hope they decide to generate clips of plays based on game log data that can be used in a ‘plays of the day’ highlight reel from around the league each day to go with inside the show.

I have three that I thought of real quick.

1) Home Run Derby
I'll start with the easiest one. Throw all those kids out in the outfield to shag the fly balls. It'd be a nice touch to the event.

2) All-Star Game Introductions
One of the best parts of the game is the pre-game intros where they line the reserves up on the foul lines and introduce them one-by-one, and then have the starters run out of the dugout and get introduced one-by-one.

This would add quite a bit of pageantry to the game.

3) Ring Ceremony for World Series Champ
Just peak over at NBA2K for inspiration. Make the home opener for the defending World Series champion a bigger deal.

Show all the players getting their rings. Unveil the championship pennant.
