Re: MLB lockout
speculation on my part, I don't think the lockout will affect the release but at the same time a lockout certainly doesn't help ensure a timely release either. not saying it WILL hurt the Show, only that it can only hurt and not help
but my gut tells me Show 22 will be released sooner than Show 21
also FWIW only a strike has caused a mlb season to be shorter than 162 games. a lockout never has caused a season to be shorter. delayed yes, shorter noOSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

Re: MLB lockout
Only thing I see affected are player scans and obviously if the cba isn't ratified until march, there may not be time for them to get in new rules.
But I know they scan players in spring training. If spring training is delayed too much or doesn't happen on the regular scale, they may not get to scan all the players which may effect next year. But they did add a bunch of scans during the season last year so maybe they can get players scanned throughout the year.Comment

Re: MLB lockout
I wouldn't expect things like universal DH, expanded playoffs, service time changes, etc. (if these are actually added in new CBA) to be in '22. There just won't be enough time for them to get them in before Feb/March when the game goes gold for release. I would think it would be '21 with some additional "features" and such.est 1978

Re: MLB lockout
but apparently mgmt. wants to see if the players will blink first (hint, they won't).
I wouldn't be surprised if this stalemate continues right up till mid-February
As far as the Show goes I'd be fine with new rules in 22 not making it in until 23.
I also wonder how that will affect carry-over saves from coming back.
I guess I need to research what the last CBA from 2016 brought to Show as far as new rules and how it was applied to franchiseLast edited by Caulfield; 12-30-2021, 02:12 PM.OSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

Re: MLB lockout
incidentally, IMO its the service time disagreement that will be the hardest bridge to gap for the two sides. all the rest is white noise as far as I see it. the quicker they tune that out and focus on the service time versus free agency at age 29 issue, the sooner this mess can be resolved and then they can hammer out the smaller snags.

Re: MLB lockout
if this lockout stretches past the date when 22 has to go gold, I could see it affecting the game in that we may not have player portraits wearing their real team hats or those action shots in uniform either. may wind up with mugshots of everyone with generic hats. the more I think about it I think the lockout could affect Show 22 more than initially thought, at least aesthetically speakingOSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23
