Re: MLB The Show '22 Impressions (PS4)

Hit my first homerun with Paul DeJong off of Justin Verlander in Spring Training.

I'm averaging like 13 strikeouts a game...

It'll get better....I hope

Re: MLB The Show '22 Impressions (PS4)

I was mentioning this in another thread.

The commentary is really well done. It has a "radio broadcast" feel to it as the announcers aren't consistently talking throughout the at-bat. You can hear the ambience of the crowd/stadium more often and more clearly.

Its nothing for Boog to say "ball low, and its 1-0" and then not talk again, nor Singleton, until the next pitch is thrown. They don't do it all the time as they get into discussions, but its not constant allowing a great mixture of broadcast feel and feeling as though you're at the park.

Really really well done.

Re: MLB The Show '22 Impressions (PS4)

Boog Sciambi's excitement when calling the game/action in big plays is such a refreshing thing. He's got me hootin and hollerin when something big happens because of his reaction.

The game is so smooth to play (PS4 version on PS5) and not a bad looking game. If you've been disappointed with graphics the past year or two, I don't foresee that opinion changing this year, but for me it looks good.

I think the best thing gameplay wise is the subtle changes to hitting, pitching, and fielding. Nothing stands out as the big thing, but each subtle change has made the gameplay even better than '21. And the new fielding animations, 1st base catch animations, really bring a fresh feel to the game.

The more I use it, the more I really like the PCI anchor. Its helps me keep my eyes in a certain location of the zone and has made me a better hitter. And I don't mean that to say that I'm crushing the ball, but I'm having better at-bats and not swinging at crap as often.

If you liked '21 I think you'll appreciate '22 quite a bit. It may take a few games to find that appreciation but I think it will eventually be there.

Re: MLB The Show '22 Impressions (PS4)

The biggest issue I'm having thus far is adjusting to the new MEDIUM camera angle. I swear its been lowered a bit and its taking time for me to adjust to finding the ball/marker on the field when playing defense. Hasn't cause chaos, but its an adjustment.

One thing I noticed also was in my last game I hit a homerun to tie the game in the Top of the 9th and Boog got excited saying "this game is tied!!" and then the commentary stitched to a line where he updates the score, inning and such while runner rounding bases and his excitement level is gone.

Not sure if a/the day one patch will address this or not, or if they can down the line, but its something that caught my attention.
