When you finish playing do you go the game hub then rest mode or close the game then the rest mode?

Is there a difference, one better than the other?

I close the app, then put in rest mode
I have physical editions of all my games, no digital downloads,
so I don't want the disc drive spinning its motor while the PlayStation is resting
