Not sure if this is an actual Web Gem, but it was a sweet catch that I've never experienced. J.D. Martinez has a fly ball pop out of his glove, but he sticks with it to make the catch for the out.

haha was coming to post the same although its my second time seeing it but this time I was on the wrong end of it...from the batters box I thought it was gonna bounce off him and go over the fence for a game tieing homer...sadly not

Xander Bogaerts makes an outstanding diving play in the hole and fires a strong throw across the diamond to rob Bo Bichette of a base hit

Jarren Duran makes an outstanding leaping catch at the wall in CF to rob Austin hedges in my Red Sox franchise

Kike Hernandez and Xander Bogaerts execute a strong relay to the plate to nail their former teammate Christian Vazquez trying to score from first base on a double by Yuli Gurriel

Re: MLB '22 Web Gems!

Tim Anderson made these plays against me the other day, on consecutive plays, nonetheless...

Boog with the "StatCassst Assembllle!" call.

That was after we had own flash of Defensive brilliance, in the top of the inning... although that was maybe a questionable send with a slow runner, with no outs. That RF corner is deep though.

Overall, I'm pretty impressed with the animations on defense. From the positioning when fielding off of walls, to the way the cut-off man gets themselves in position to make the relay throw, to even the umpires get into position to view the close plays.

Re: MLB '22 Web Gems!

Heck of a play by Martinez to stick with it after just missing a diving catch.

This was literally the first pitch of the game and ended up being the only hit Sale gave up the entire game. Sale got the next 26 batters out, striking out 17, en route to a complete game shutout. And no, this was not a typical game for me and my Sox franchise. It was just one of those special days for Sale.

This was the closest I've ever come to a no-no or a perfect game. A one-hitter with nobody reaching base safely! Ugh! So close! I'm just happy it was literally the first pitch of the game so I wasn't sweating it the entire game. I don't know what I would have done if it was in the bottom of the 9th with two outs!
