Calling Off Support Group
Every morning when I wake up to get ready for work I have to battle the urge to call off so I can play "The Show" all day. I'm able to fight this urge by reminding myself that my wife will think I'm an idiot and I'll get scolded lol. I can't be alone in this struggle, can I? What are some of your techniques to resist the urge to call off work in the name of "The Show"?Tags: None -

In my defense I haven't taken a sick day in over a year.

I fortunately work from home with a pretty laid back job and just reply to emails and do quick 5 min tasks (with the occasional all day task) so I have my computer and PlayStation set up on my desk. While I wait for that next email I’m gaming

Re: Calling Off Support Group
I work an 8-3 job. Not terrible but they make it rough to take any days off. I get a couple weeks vacation but if it doesn't fall in that you need a really good excuse and I'm just not that creativeNCAA: Kentucky Wildcats

Re: Calling Off Support Group
I fight this urge daily.
Only reason go to work is to make sure the doggie has food (screw me, my fat *** doesn't need anymore food), to pay for the electric/internet bills so I can play the show, & cover my tickets to sporting events.
Jealous of you cats that are retired or work from the house.Comment

Re: Calling Off Support Group
I work from home...my PS5 is in my basement and my work office is on the 2nd floor.
Absolutely HAD to do this; otherwise temptation is too great....especially when I am on a lot of t-cons.Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

Re: Calling Off Support Group
My brother and I started a CPG Food Brand U-LUV Foods. We have cookies that are free from all 8 major FDA allergens. We’re in 330 US stores and online at www.uluvfoods.com.
Okay, shameless plug over
That said, setting my own hours means I gotta have discipline. Even more so when early April comes around because of the show.
My brother runs the shop, I’m more so sales but I go in everyday to avoid temptation to say “let me get a quick game in” haha.

Re: Calling Off Support Group
Well, its official that tomorrow will be a "call in sick for the show day" for me. I planned on doing that the day it was released but I couldn't. So, finally I get a full day of the show.
I blame this thread and all of you.

Re: Calling Off Support Group
Wouldn’t matter for me anyway. My wife works from home, so if I were to take a sick day I’m pretty sure the first thing she’d tell me is “ you’re not going to be playing all day right?” She’d then produce a list of chores for me to do around the house.
Damn I knew I should have stayed single.
