Help with baserunning on Switch

I'm sick of if. Playing on switch I try auto.. and my guys just stand between first and second on EVERY PLAY it seems. So frustrating, especially when you're playing with a bad team with no offense. Happens to me mostly, but also to the cpu. I choose auto because after hitting I'm not quick enough to make decisions for all of my guys on bases.

So auto didn't work, so I try assist.. and that's also broken. Guys standing in the middle of 1st and 2nd, two guys standing on the same plate. All sorts of b.s.


What is the solution!? I've always played auto.. but this year it's broken. What's everyone else doing... I'm on switch btw

I play on switch and have had 1 wonky baserunning scenario. I also had 1 on ps5. I wish it was zero instances but I wouldn't even come close to saying the game is unplayable unless I live in some weird dream world where the 99% percent of the rest of the time that I play with no issue isn't real.

I mean this in the nicest way possible but your thread title sucks and is begging for this thread to go sideways and be at all not productive to your actual issue.

I'm posting about MLB The Show in an MLB The Show forum? Relax man. This is the first thread I've ever made.. I wouldn't make one for no reason.

I'm 4-6 in my franchise.. so that's 10 games and in all 10 games Ive had multiple issues. As I said, playing on Auto baserunning, I get runners standing in the middle of two bases at least once an innings. That is pretty unplayable to me, how am I supposed to generate offence?


Is this a switch problem? Is there a slider I can adjust to get the runners to actually move with logic and not stand there.
I'm asking because I want to be able to play the game...damn everyone's so sensitive here

Ok, it's your first post, and you seem frustrated, which I understand in your situation. It's just that the thread title is one of those that screams I'm angry screw you SDS, you suck, and I want the world to know I'm done with you.

So yeah, poor choice of thread title. You could have said something like, Is baserunning messed up on the Switch, or Please help with baserunning issues.

So let's start over. You seem like you genuinely need help and want to play the game, so lets help him out here.

I will change the thread title and we can help him if he is open to listening.

It has nothing to do with anyone being sensitive. You could have easily said anything in the title of the thread that even hinted at your problem or that you wanted help to fix it. Instead you chose basically a variation of a "this game sucks" approach.

For the record I don't care what you call the thread personally. I've been around OS long enough to know how the "this game sucks" approach will go. That's all.

Man... Very next game. Game goes to a 10th inning. I have a man on 3rd. I hit it straight back to the pitcher.. they throw to 1st but my guy is standing still 10 feet from the 3rd base!!!!!!

So I panic and press left bumper to run home...yes I should've pressed right bumper and I might've made it back.. BUT IT'S ON AUTO BASERUNNING. Why do I have to watch the man on 3rd and manually move him back?

It's literally happening every game.. surely this is a bug? I'm using default sliders

With auto baserunning on that's definitely a bug and should be reported. As you (perhaps unfortunately) found out, even with auto on you have some degree of manual control, and if that happens again the R1 button should return him to 3rd.

Thanks for posting the live gameplay, btw - it's much easier to see what's going on (for both us forumgoers and the devs). I didn't actually know the switch had a video capture feature! Screenshots sure, but not video.

Ok, well I think I've proved I'm not just being stupid.. or trolling.

This is unreal! I don't know where to report this bug? Tried looking on Reddit but couldn't find anywhere to report this.

In the meantime.. I guess I gotta try "Assist" baserunning, which is just so damn hard on the switch. Especially when you have multiple men on bases smhhh

Should take you right to the bug reporting. You're going to want to be as detailed as possible with your button input sequencing, as well as uploading one of your videos to match your described problem.

Thanks.. I just reported it with all 3 of my videos attached.

Hope it gets sorted . So frustrating I waited 2 weeks for custom rosters to start my franchise and 2 days into it I can't play because of this baserunning bug. Ah well

manual baserunning really isnt that hard and you'd have zero issues. you should give it a try.

With one player on base it's ok.. but moving multiple runners is crazy stuff

Bottom of the 8th.. 0-0 game. I have a runner on 1st and 3rd. Hit a ball straight down the middle, 3rd runs to home, guy on 1st just stands there, force out

This is absolutely trash... Even if I had it on manual, I can't control 1st and 3rd at the same damn time smhh

On manual/assist you could hit L1 (not sure actual button on Switch) to advance all runners, so you can control all runners at same time.
