from what I read, it was supposed to be a boxing match originally, but the city wouldn't give the okay, so they made in an mma fight instead. then, Mercer told Sylvia to be a man and stand-up with him since he hadn't trained for any kind of ground work due to it originally being a boxing match.

You might be a big slugger in the cage, but if you want to box with a real boxer, you're going to get your head knocked off.

It's why guys like Lidell and Rampage wouldn't last any longer than Sylvia if they stood and traded with Roy Jones or Tomasz Adamek.
Not much happens in 9 seconds, take down wise.

The spin is that they yanked him because there wouldnt have been enough time between the 9 second *** kicking he got and the Affliction 3 PPV. I really dont get why Sylvia even took this fight, what the hell would he have gained even if he had knocked out Mercer in 5 seconds? Sylvia was a fool for even taking this fight in the first place.

Heh, his egocentric foray into a late-term boxing career clouded his judgement apparently. Affliction guys are pissed because he basically surrendered any hype the match had while also making it tough for himself to even compete were it to continue on due to the relatively short timeframe. Stupid stupid stupid.

Poor Arlovski & Timmy lmfao.

What that chick and Fedor didn't destroy, Mercer and Rodgers did.
