Yes, Fedor is undefeated. He has a loss, but he has never been defeated

Let's put this in dollars and cents.

The salary isn't truly that big of an issue if Fedor vs. Brock can do 1.5 million PPV buys and sell out the MGM.

Let's say Fedor loses this weekend. His fight with Brock isn't as hot and never will be as hot as if it was with Fedor undefeated. Instead, it'd probably do around 750,000 buys because the one thing Fedor has going for him is the undefeated streak. No casual fan in the US even knows who he is. He's pretty meaningless without the undefeated streak. Yes, I know he's lost before, but it was fluky and to the general MMA fan, they think he's undefeated anyway.

So let's say a 1.5 million PPV fight does $50 million in revenue. If their fight only does half of that and does only $25 million in revenue, do you think Dana White cares one bit if he has to pay Fedor an extra $500k to sign? No freakin' way. It's not about the money with those guys anyway. It's about exclusivity.

Now with your thought, Vitor comes in and dances with Anderson Silva. Even with Vitor hot, in my estimation, the most that fight does in buys is 600K. Silva has never main evented strong on PPV and the only reason his fight with Leites did big business is because Liddell was on the card.

So that's why wanting Fedor to lose isn't smart if Dana really thinks he can get Fedor. You want him winning and you want him looking indestructible. Remember, once Fedor is in UFC (if he's really in), he's not an outsider anymore. Just like Cro Cop and Rampage when they came over - they're on Dana's team.

A couple of problems with that:

The UFC regularly sells out the MGM and Mandalay Bay w/o Brock and Fedor so that wouldnt be an issue. No way a Fedor/Brock fight drops from a potential 1.5 million with an undefeated Fedor to 750k with a one loss Fedor. Thats just throwing random numbers out there. The only difference a loss would cause is it would lower Fedor's demand and the UFC would have to build Fedor up with 2 or 3 fights before a title shot. If he's undefeated Fedor gets a title shot after one fight just like A. Silva and Rampage did.

Yeah, Fedor would not have nearly that much of an effect on PPV buys considering the difference between 750K and 1.5 million is casual fans, and those fans have absolutely no idea who Fedor is.

I'm sure someone will say that it's about the hype the UFC can use to build it up, and there's some truth to that, but it'll be simple to hype up anything with Brock Lesnar. That guy's already got more pull among the casual fans that could result in a 1.5 million buy than Fedor could ever hope to bring.

I think Fedor would get an auto shot ala Hendo if he went to the UFC.

He wouldn't need a tune-up fight. The UFC probably wouldn't want to pay him the money for a tune-up fight. They want him to see and fight the big boys.

The difference is they were unifying the UFC and Pride belts and Hendo held the Pride belts.
