Possibly. I want him to win a lot as well. He is one of the wrestlers that isn't boring, plus he is learning a lot from fight to fight. Being at AKA will help him a lot. His problem is being small though, and his chin isn't tested either. I think Cormier is just better than Silva, but his height and weight will help him a lot.

The same way he got Fedor down. Went down with him and used his strength to get on top. I compared Werdum as he is a more experienced fighter on the ground than Cormier. Again, you are putting too much stock into just a wrestler. Cormier is going to waste all of his energy trying to take him down. Silva has him beat by a mile in the standup game so would it be all that surprising if he knocks him out or rocks him down to the fetal position and then grounds and pounds there? I've watched both fight extensively and I am not seeing how you are missing the obvious.

I wouldn't say he has him beat by a mile. His standup is obviously a lot more farther along, but Cormier is getting better from fight to fight. He tooled Monson standing up, and decided he didn't wanna try and take him down. I have also seen them both fight a lot, so before the fight happens you shouldn't say I am missing something obvious. Its not like Cormier has a 0% chance to win, say ala Tito-Bader, Werdum-Fedor

Neither of these fights surprised me. However, if Cormier beats Silva then I will be surprised

This fight will go down to size, strength and experience. Cormier lacks all three. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see the upset but just don't think it is going to happen.

He has a lot better chance to win than Werdum and Ortiz did.
The size thing only helps to a certain extent, but I do think it will be harder for Cormier to get the takedown, but I think he will get him down, or wear SILVA down by hugging him against the cage.

I don't know the above fighters you listed have been in the sport for many years. Cormier has been on the scene for what about 2 years and Silva for about 5 or so? It is Silva who has the nasty bear hug that weighes down fighters.

6-04 vs 5-11 (listed) but I think he might be more like 5-09. About a 10 inch reach over Cormier so getting inside is already a problem. About a true 35-40 pound difference in weight and even bigger difference in muscle versus fat weight between the two. Silva will drop down to meet the 265 weigh-in but the sheer size is going to be obvious come fight day. Then Cormier will have to push around and pick up the bigger, stronger fighter all fight long when he isn't exactly in the best of shape? He was in great shape back in his wrestling days but too many cheeseburgers have taken a step or two out of him. Cormier is a wrestler with okay stand up. Silva has the better stand up and BJJ to go with good wrestling.

The question is........will Cormier be able to get him down, out muscle him and do what?? His only option on the ground is pounding out or lay and pray to out point each round. He does not have any BJJ skills to submit Silva whereas it is the other way around.

We will see come fight day but I see this as being a one sided fight that will end by the 2nd if not sooner.
