Dana aint gonna be able to control Diaz as champ. His only hope is that being champ medicates Diaz and that being champ is enough to sort of calm Diaz down.
He was champ in strikeforce and was involved in a huge post fight melee. throwing a sucker punch at miller who he ducked.

True, but that was a completely different situation. I'm talking about Diaz' lack of interest in doing press and promotion. As well as showing up to scheduled meetings.

In regards to the melee, you had Miller instigating and you had a large amount of guys in the cage. Strikeforce was asking for something to happen. The UFC would never allow that foolishness to ever pop off.

Did Diaz say he thinks they should take the elbows out of the UFC? Does he want this to be Boxing and BJJ only?

Strikeforce didnt have grounded elbows. Same with Pride. Some people think they serve no purpose other than cutting people.

I'm confused about the rules on elbows, didn't Strikeforce end up allowing grounded elbows? If I recall Gilbert Melendez, Diaz' teammate, used vicious grounded elbows on Kawjuri all fight long.

I see Diaz' point about this:

Quote:
Diaz on MMA scoring and winning fights: “Everybody wants to be like GSP and overcome the technical aspect by being stronger and more explosive, and beating you to the punch in the scoring for five minutes. That’s not really what martial arts is about. This is MMA, and that’s what fans want to see. People want to see real skill level, real boxing and real jiu-jitsu mixed up. They don’t just want to see five minutes of holding.”
I realize wrestling is a part of MMA but I think at some point it becomes something else than a fight. AND again, this is NOT speaking about GSP. Just in general, the scoring of the sport and the nature of it.

Zuffa purchased SF before the Diaz/Daley card (the card the Kawajiri fight was on). When they made the purchase, they switched the rules from the SF rules to the unified rules which allow elbows. I only remember this because in EA MMA, you could not use grounded elbows in SF.
