No it doesn't. He could go elsewhere and fight. He needs the UFC, the UFC could go on w/o him. Harsh, but it's reality.

Bellator and the WSOF for one. Both offer decent pay if you want to fight but dont want the UFC telling you who you will fight.

And if Aldo wins he's fighting Bendo for the LW belt.

Lol this is a mess but I knew this would happen. I'm assuming if Pettis wins he'll get the shot at the LW title as well?

What a jumbo mess Dana just got himself in. And Aldo really just exposed how flawed the UFC match making system can be at times. By next year the UFC could have a fighter who is champion in 2 different weight classes at the same time.

I support Aldo's stance on this. You shouldn't jump the line just because you change weight classes and get an automatic title shot.

In all honesty Aldo needs to move to LW regardless. Pettis on the other hand is in a pickle. If he wins does he stay at FW? He seemed less than thrilled about that prospect when Ariel first presented that idea.

I don't think Pettis wants to stay at the lower weight class. I firmly believe in the back of his mind he really wants to fight Ben Henderson again on the grand stage which is the UFC.

Also if Aldo leaves the division, then that division will practically belong to Frankie Edgar.
