Just listened to Dana on SC. He offered the fight to Aldo (passed), Frankie (passed) Cerrone (accepted), BJ Penn wanted the fight, Anthony Pettis also wanted the fight as well.

Yeah it's pretty wild that the 145 champ was supposed to fight for the 155 belt and ended up fighting at 170

I heard that Donald hired Dolce immediately and was willing to go to 155. Interesting that they went with Nate at 170 instead

Yea it is definitely interesting that they went to 170 instead of 155. So maybe if Conor wins he goes after Lawler instead of RDA.

I think this was a calculated move by Conor. According to Ariel, it was between Diaz and Cerrone. Conor wanted Diaz but wanted it at 160 because Diaz said he couldnt make 155. Diaz countered with 165 and Conor said "**** it, lets do 170."

I think he's banking on Diaz being out of shape.

I also am suspect about how good a fight this will be. Short notice. Diaz could be looking at this as a quick (and huge) payday. I dont see Conor KOing him early but I could see a late KO or decision.

Plus with Diaz, McGregor really doesn't have to worry about takedown defense. Diaz is great at BJJ, but he very, very rarely looks to take anyone down. This will be a standup battle and McGregor I'm sure feels good about his chances of winning that battle.

Glad that they've got something squared away. I understand that Conor is all about the belts and all that, but I didn't see it in his nature to wait for RDA or another title fight. The guy is confidence personified; he probably sees this as another easy W.
