Others who are going to 'get someone killed in the ring': Kim Winslow, Steve Mazzagatti, Jarrod Valel, Dan Mirgliotta and that's just four. Did he make a mistake? Probably. Is he the worst out there? Not. Even. Close.

I found it was a tough call. I think both involved, fighter and Herb are partly to blame but its also hard to pass any blame on how both are trained to handle this situation. Fighter is taught is not let go until the ref tells you too, so did he have to continue holding on until herb said to let go...obviously not. Now Herb was in a tough spot where if he called it and the guy wasn't out or didn't tap then he would of caught flak. He took extra long to confirm it, little to long....but it wasn't a easy situation for anyone from my perspective.

Refs are going to make mistakes.

It takes a long time to choke someone to death.

Late stoppages involving strikes are far more dangerous. But then again, it is a combat sport. The ref is there to enforce the rules. Pulling one guy off another is his secondary objective.
