I don't blame anyone not wanting to take a short notice fight against Rumble. **** all that. Canning this card wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.

Ariel says this may be the plan:

- Strip Conor of the 145 belt.
- Move Aldo up from Interim to Actual Champion.
- Have Pettis and Holloway fight for the interim belt at 206.

Apparently Mousasi wanted the fight.

Good ol' Gegard always seems to throw his name out there whenever someone drops out of a fight. That doesn't do much to generate anymore interest in the card, but I suppose Rumble just needs a body in there to KO.

Rumble declined replacement opponent, doesn't care for interim belts apparently.

Imo big news is Pettis vs Holloway for interim FW belt as new UFC 206 main event. Guessing Aldo will get promoted to undisputed champion?

Conor won't be happy and this is only going to make his act even better. Now the UFC will have another paper champ, even though I hate that term.

Edit: I forgot Aldo "retired" so maybe the UFC is doing the smart thing and stripping Aldo of his interim title. Stripping Conor without Conor giving his ok is not smart when he is really the only star left.

No Aldo has been elevated to the main champion. According to the article, Conor has been stripped. They can do it because he hasn't defended the belt in a year and doesn't currently have a fight scheduled to defend it.
