It was a superman hook by Pettis. First time Thompson has ever been KO'd in MMA.

Yup. Sometimes MMA just doesn't make sense smh...you would have thought Woodley or Till would have been the ones to do that to him, but seems Pettis has more power moved up in weight too. Wonderboy was fighting great though, he just got caught. I was flinching in my seat everytime Pettis swung a right hand at him tbh lol. Im kinda butthurt he got caught, cuz i'm a bit of a Wonderboy fan and was hoping he would make his way back to the title. No idea what's next for him at this point, but WW's definitely got a new contender in Pettis!

Or in kickboxing (57-0).

I love Wonderboy (how awesome was that, watching him come out to Tenacious D "Wonderboy"????).

He was dominating Pettis and got caught.
He even mentioned that Pettis's punching was slow and he wasn't giving him much trouble.
I wonder if Thompson's age is catching up to him. How many punches has he taken over the years in the ring/cage and in sparring for both kickboxing and MMA?
Made me wonder if his ability to take a punch has gone down over the past few years?
You see it in boxing all the time. Sugar Ray Leonard once had an iron chin, and then later in his career, he was hitting the deck virtually every fight.

Yh makes you wonder...he is 36 yrs old. But because of his style, Thompson hasn't really taken much damage at all I think. That's the first time he's ever been ko'd. I think he just got caught right on the button in this one. But we'll know for sure if he gets hit in his next fight, what's going on.

He has a lot of fights though. He is past his prime and the injuries and fights are catching up to him.
