Not a great card unless you just go off names

They've seriously gotta stop giving BJ Penn fights. Guess we'll see how this one goes. SMH.

Yeah Penn is up for becoming the longest losing streak without being cut in the UFC. Either way this fight is historic.

Guida is the fair favorite, Guida has been up and down (like most vets at this point) but Penn has been all down. Penn seems content trying to counter strike faster and younger opponents. I hope Penn wins, but Guida most likely wins by DEC with wrestleboxing.

I'd be shocked if Guida doesn't maul Penn. His style is still pretty effective at this point of his career.

I know this isn't technically a great card, but I've seen far worse on paper. I'm happy to see Thug Rose back in there after all this time. Andrade is tough.

Alves is forever the homie, and I'll always watch any Aldo or Anderson fight. I'm a fan of both Bethe Correia and Irene Aldana as well. I think that has the potential to be an exciting fight. This could be a good win for Aldana if she pulls it off.

            False alarm. As you were.

Penn looked good early on as usual. Guida has cardio to 2 more rounds, while Penn seemed like he was done mid R2. Most fighters and fans I see are picking Thug Rose, I am surprised Andrade is the favorite- maybe it's Brazil. Actually it's probably Brazil. It's been hard to win decisions for foreigns in Brazil. On Alves, I'm thought he would've retired awhile ago but he's actually not that old just has a lot of miles. He probably wins his fight against Staropoli, but not so sure know nothing about Staropoli.

It's cool to see Anderson a lot more comfortable speaking English these days.

Agreed this card is kinda weak. The only fight that interests me is Aldo vs Volkanovski.

                    Volkanovski won

                    Jose Aldo (-135|$1.7x|6/10) > Alexander Volkanovski (+125|$2.2x|4/10)

Volkanovski was under the radar before his fight with Elkins, he's actually been in the UFC for 3 years already. He's also Aldo's toughest test since the championship days. I think Aldo has potential to finish this fight but a decision in his home country feels more likely. Similar for Volkanski but I think he has a better chance at hurting Aldo than outlanding/grappling him to a decision. Aldo's cardio has been great for 3rds, a viable plan for Volkanovski is try and hurt Aldo early and cage grapple. It's hard to maintain hold of Aldo but strong wrestlers haven't had as much trouble pushing him to the cage.

                    Prediction: Aldo by DEC

I wouldn't be surprised if Aldo takes it. He has shut down wrestle boxers his entire career. But what do they do if Jose wins? Holloway already beat him twice.

For that very reason, hoping Volk wins this fight.

                            Cannonier won

                            Jared Cannonier (-110|$1.9x|5/10) < Anderson Silva (+100|$2|5/10)

L: Pressure, wrestling, damage; Experience, feints, damage, clinch,

Cannonier has been almost has inconsistent as Silva lately, but he is coming of a TKO win over Branch. Cannonier's plan may be to hurt Silva but I think his best chance is to grind a decision, he has enough power to damage Silva if he keeps him guessing like Weidman, Sonnen, and Cormier did. Silva will put on a show regardless. I wouldn't mind either winning, but I think a win can salvage Silva. He's actually the underdog in Brazil too.

                            Prediction: Anderson Silva by DEC

Cannonier is really a hit or miss guy. He does have power, so I think he has a chance to beat Silva if he can land early and often. However, Silva is always elusive and will be looking to snipe him outta there. This fight is gonna be interesting, as it a loss could bury both guys under the heap again and a no idea where a win would put them tbh. Should be an interesting fight though.
