Re: MVP Baseball 2004 Roster Discussion

Now I'm not even home right now, Won't be until tommorrow night. Now Fielder is rated 44 for left handed pitchers and 48 for power, now for right handed pitchers he is rated a little higher like 48 and power 62, He did hit 27 HR's last year. Now the reason he is rated like this is because of AA ball. In the progression, he probably will go up a little. I hope this helps

Re: MVP Baseball 2004 Roster Discussion

Thanks Kerm! I appreciate that. So far Fielder is the only batter I've seen that's WAY out of whack. I'll knock this down and put him back in AA.

As far as pitchers go, what do you suggest? Obviously, guys with 53 velocity on curves should be upped to somewhere in the 70s. What about all the pitchers with 0-30 movement? Should they be bumped to about 50? Is there anything we can do about guys with curves that break the other way? Some scrub last night was throwing a 65 MPH curve ball that dove in to a right handed hitter like a 2 seam fastball would do. Is there anyway to get rid of those unrealistic movements?

Thanks again for taking the time!

Re: MVP Baseball 2004 Roster Discussion

Badgun, you say you want me to put in a disclaimer. I have put up a general disclaimer a while ago HERE.

It states ... "Operation Sports is not responsible for the claims made by those that submit roster files. We post them w/ a description that is given and aside from a little common sense we don't have any way of knowing if the claims are completely true. We can't possibly test each file. Please keep this in mind if a roster is not all that it claims to be."

I haven't fully tested Gomer's conversion, nor do I have the time. I think you've done a good job of warning others in the many posts in this thread on how you feel, so I see no reason to make a specific statement on something I can't personally verify.

I don't have any inherent responsibility on the contents of any file that is submitted. Again, read both disclaimers in the HERE link. I'm getting sick of being called out to say something on these. I've done the most responsible thing that I can. I've put up a blanket disclaimer that I ran by the entire staff including Steve. Nothing more for me to do. Every file is use at your own risk.

Re: MVP Baseball 2004 Roster Discussion

JohnDoe,
That's cool man. I understand. I think you will see that there are quite a few people both here and in the MVP forum posting about the wackiness of these rosters.

From what I've been able to gather, Kerm did all the work and GomerPyle did all the meddling. I don't think Kerm ever intended for Gomer to arbitrarily change ratings and mess with pitches, but it appears that's what has happened.

You should know a little something about roster integrity after the great work you did on the college hoops roster. How would you feel if you allowed someone to convert your Xbox roster over to the PS2 and the guy jacked up all of the Kentucky players ratings because they were his favorite team? Then when people start seeing that some scrub is averaging 30 pts a game it makes you look like the guilty one if your name is still on it. Know what I mean?

Anyway, Kerm is doing what he can to correct the mistakes.

I understand your point about integrity Badgun, and I completely agree with you on that. However, I was under the assumption (and still am unless Kerm tells me otherwise), that Gomer and Kerm were working together ...? That is what I've been hearing all along. Whatever the situation, I'm sure Kerm will work it out and get me the info that I need.

Well all I can say is when I posted about Prince Fielder being jacked up to Pujols proportions, Kerm said that it wasn't his roster. I told him that it was the file I downloaded from here and he said it wasn't his roster.

Then a few posts later, Gomer admits to jacking Fielder up based on what he might do in 3 years or something so it appears Gomer is kind of doing his own thing to Kerm's rosters. Now whether or not he has Kerm's blessing is another story. But as you can see, people are complaining about stuff to Kerm, but the reality of it is that Gomer changed the stuff, not Kerm.

Of course, Kerm doesn't seem to want to implicate Gomer, but he knows what's going on. The bad thing is is that some people are going to think bad of Kerm if they don't get the full story.

Now this is just from what I've been able to gather. Gomer admitted to giving Roy Halladay and extra pitch, which by the way is virtually unhittable, but his reasoning was that Halladay is "working on this pitch" and should have it ready in a year or so.

So we know for a fact that he's altered Kerm's original Halladay and Prince Fielder, but now I have to wonder just what else Gomer has done to these rosters. We know all of the created pitchers have weird and crazy pitch movements and speeds, but I haven't really been able to figure out which one of them did that....neither has admitted it.

So that's where we are...

You know, if Gomer wanted to jack up his favorite player or his favorite team, why couldn't he have just done it to his own roster? By altering Kerm's roster, he has now passed on his wishes to whomever downloads the roster...almost like a virus, if you will.

I wish there was another way for Kerm to get his pc rosters to the Xbox without them passing through Gomer's hands, because I don't trust anything that kid puts his hands on after this.

I've actually been using Shawn Drotar's rosters that he posted not long after the game came out. He created some of the guys EA left out and I think he did a great job. Certainly not as complete as Kerm's roster, but serviceable just as well.

Then why are you still bitching about the other rosters?
