    Submarine style pitchers...

They are killing me! Their style is so unorthodoxed and I'm having the most difficult time hitting against pitchers with this particular style of delivery. Please tell me I'm not the only one who can't seem to adjust to this style of pitching when I'm at the plate.

If I am, I'm definitely open to tips, suggestions.

They typically don't have overpowering fastballs. Just wait for them to throw one and let it rip. I struggle with the ones that have a hard breaking slider but other than that I hit submarine pitchers pretty well.

That's the exact problem I'm running into....the breaking pitches. Most pitchers with an overhand delivery will throw the hard hooking slider (Randy Johnson...well his delivery is sorta semi - submarine in a way), or the bottom dropping curve (David Wells), and after a few batters you can adjust. But the submarine style hurlers come at you with those pitches and the breaks seem so quick from the delivery that I'm hacking at pitches in the strike zone miserably.

Thanx for the tip on the fastballs.

Kelly Wunsch is the hardest one for me to hit. Just not used to seeing a LH submariner.

Fortunately, most seem to be relievers so you don't have to face them for 6 or 7 straight innings. The downside to that though is you face an overhand style pitcher for the majority of the game, then in comes a submariner to screw up your timing at the plate.

I still can't hit the hard-breaking sliders from over-handed pitchers much less the submarine ones. The high inside slider - i hate that pitch. I've bought MVP every year and i can't time that pitch to save my life. I wanna jack one sooo bad ..lol

I feel ya man...I can only hit the sliders that come in the low 80's. I treat them like curves to an extent. But the pitchers that send sliders at you in the high 80's kill me.

I know as a general rule this is always true, but I've found that getting lefties up against a righty submarine pitcher (and vice-versa) is even more effective than against a regular motion guy. Then again, this could just be mental since I heard a baseball play by play guy talking about it the other day...

Hey now, I pitch submarine style and it ain't cheating just cause you can't hit it bro.

Also here, I got ya something you might find useful:

                        "Darth Vader doesn't cry, Peter."
"The guy was married to Natalie Portman and blew it. I mean, think about it."

Is this particular style easier on the arm? I've just always wondered why guys decide to pitch that way.

It's said to be overall easier on the arm; certianly it is easier on my shoulder, which I've had trouble with for a while now. With bad mechanics it's real easy to hurt your elbow though. For me personally it was a combination of that and the fact that I simply don't throw that hard overhand, so switching the angle up helps. Not to mention that it's easier (for me at least) to get movement, especially on a fastball
