Grantland Article about MVP and MVPmods

Very nice, well-rounded article about the history of MVP in relation to 2K and The Show and how the modding has brought it along far beyond anyone's expectations:

All these years sharing the NHL forums, and I never realized you'd taken over my job as MVP ratings guru. (You're likely much better at it than I was.) Thanks for continuing my work, Gordon. And kudos to all the MVP Mods folks out there.

Hey Jon, hehe...surely you jest! We just got desperate to play something more updated and we were too cheap to go out and buy a PS3 and The Show. Let me know if you need me somewhere down the line.

Will do. Hopefully someone at EA will let me know if they need me somewhere down the line.

Didn't realize Dr.Jones was Jon Dowd, so what's Barry really like.

Is there nothing at all that can be done to get widescreen working on the game? Seeing as xbox had it you'd of thought there would be some fix.

There's got to be some type of Windows emulator, no? I thought you can purchase that type of program for MACs.

For some reason they didn't format it for widescreen....probably because PC screens were still 4:3 around that time I would think.

I like that better than "daflyboys" We'd all like to see them try their hand at an updated version, but in the meantime..... MVP 15 and other iterations are there!

Re: Grantland Article about MVP and MVPmods

Grantland is a regular read for me, great content all around. I was floored when I saw the article on MVP 05. I'm having a great time with MLB 15 after 6 years of not having any fun with baseball games. I thought I was losing my passion! Played 5 seasons on MVP until I upgraded to a PS3 and MLB 09 in 2009, getting through about 2 seasons on there before this recent hiatus.

I still fire up MVP from time to time with my best friend, continuing our weird obsession with a bygone era of both MLB rosters and MLB video games.

Had to do a double take when I saw the quotes attributed to one "daflyboys". What?! I know that username! Super cool, and what a labor of love. I really need to invest in a copy of MVP on PC now that I have a functional one capable of handling gaming.

Figured hiding my identity for a decade was sufficient.

And yes, I once went to a game at AT&T in a #51 Dowd Giants jersey. No autograph requests, though.
