Atlantic Tournament: Not Qualified

I tried entering the single player atlantic division free for all with the following line up and was told I am not eligible (tournament requires 8 players from the atlantic division):

Michael Jordan
Ruby Iggy
Josh Smith
Moses Malone

Bench:

Reggie Evans
Tyshawn Taylor

Rudy Gay
Tim Hardaway Jr.

Is my problem the legends? Do they not count toward the 8 count?

As dumb as it sounds, it only counts current players toward that number
