How important are hot/cold spots?

Do you notice them? I feel like they matter a lot more than people realize.

they do. here is what I noticed from my experience. take a guy like CP3. I couldnt understand why he was losing so many games for me by missing a ton of wide open 3's. if you have a guy like that...and he hasnt hit a couple of shots to warm up or have microwave/corner specialist badge to help him out...then you best not attempt any shots from his cold/neutral zones.

take a guy like Starks...who has 3 point hot zones all over. he really doesnt need to heat up to start hitting. I think this is why you have some guys who have lower 3pt ratings than others but shoot a better percentage. Reggie Lewis is like this. Low 3pt rating but check his hot zones. Once he heats up, get him to his hot zones and see what happens!

you often hear guys talk about how inconsistent Steph and KD's shots are. Maybe they are not shooting from their hot zones BEFORE they heat up....and if they arent and continue to do so...this can cause them to go cold.

Last example....Onyx Nash isnt all that much better than Ruby because they have the same hot/cold zones. His 92 3pt rating will help you hit a few more shots perhaps but if he has no real hot zones from deep then it will take him longer to get in his rhythm. hence the reason they brick wide open shots sometimes.

LeBron's left wing hot spot is unstoppable.

I'm like 1/4 with LeBron from there with 2 red rings in the 4th quarter.

Why are you taking 4 threes with LBJ in a quarter?

Re: How important are hot/cold spots?

Knowing your players' zones will improve your shooting percentages dramatically.

Damian Lillard and Danny Green are two of my favorite players that have so-so three point ratings (85) but can make threes like crazy if you shoot from their hot spots on the wings.
