I would think cards like Melo, Lebron, Howard etc would go down as the season progresses. A good investment would be the boardline-gold silvers.

I think Anthony Davis, Kevin Durant, Westbrook, Klay Thompson, Jimmy Butler, John Wall, Demarcus Cousins, Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love, Blake Griffin, Paul George, Kawhi Leonard and Lebron (guessing his shooting will improve) are the safest bets out of the stars.. I think Durant could/should make a huge jump up to like 93/94 territory as well..

You never know because of injuries, many cards will be worthless. Honestly how often do you think 2K will update these cards? And how accurate will the updates be? They've been bad at both for a long time.

Those players are already rated very high. Chances are slim they will go up in rating significantly. Expensive too. High risk low reward.

I think players like Okafor, Porzingis, Ilyasova, Noel, Mudiay, Vonleh, Gobert,... are better investments. Lower rated and more likely to have a break out season, because of potential and/or more minutes.

exactly. I picked up Porzingis for less than 3k. Players like Wes Matthews really have no place to go but down, he has reached his potential. Players like Klay are already maxed....if Klay were to get any better, he would be the Warriors best player. He has high defense and shooting. Where would he improve based on his current role? Look at rookies who may be in a good situation, or guys who may get expanded new roles like Bazemore and Pachulia. Like someone mentioned here, TJ Warren is a good bet. Some of these guys wont stick to a roster either...and some of the free agents wont get signed. The 2 safest high rated guys are Paul George (due for another breakout) and Westbrook if he improves his FG% and continues on that mean streak he had going he will be about a 93-94. Lilliard could be a 90 him being "the man" in Portland now.

Well yeah, but I meant out of the stars, not in general. Those you listed are good investments though. I didn't mean that the players I listed would rise significantly, but maybe 1-3 points, given that the majority of the ones I listed were young and on the rise or entering their primes. All are likely to improve on last season, barring injury. I get where you're coming from though, I suppose the star candidates were more appealing to me, so I chose to discuss them.

Well Klay could become a better finisher, ball handler, playmaker and more efficient player (higher shot IQ), perhaps more consistent as well. Klay Thompson is only 25, he hasn't even entered his prime yet, I doubt he's maxed out. And if he improved, he may jump up to like a 89, doesn't necessarily mean he's gonna surpass Curry... And I think Anthony Davis (added range this offseason and is only 22!) and Kevin Durant (downgraded after missing most of last year and entering a contract year) are the most likely out of the higher rated players to make a 2-4 point jump..
