Domination mode is absolutely ridiculous

That's 3 games in a row I reach 60 points against the Mavs and blow them out by at least 15 points yet I can't get over 650 MT Points.

Am I supposed to be doing what i did all last year and automatically going to the post and shooting fadeaways to get the points?

Really the only trick is to make sure you attempt at least 10 free throws and 5 three pointers. If you shoot 80% from the line and 20% from behind the arc, it's a free 100 MT. After that, it's just a matter of keeping your offensive possessions very short with lots of fast breaks and assists. Shoot for around 120 per quarter if you can. If you find yourself coming up short at the end but you have the lead feel free to either back off or double team somebody to get them to shoot quicker.

how far are you? like I said, I havent had to use any cheesy tactics so far. I get about 850 pts and I havent made a post fade in the past 3 or 4 games. I just use overpowered defensive lineups. Rebounds, Assists, and Fast Break points do it for me. I avg about 75-80 ppg and usually win by about 12-20 pt margin.

I am on Historic Dom right now. I finished regular Dom a long time ago. In early stages, once you get some good players, pick and roll will get the job done. Get you some good defenders and trap and run. Thats really all there is to it. what is your lineup?

Bench:
kemba walker
oladipo
deng
hibbert
trevor booker

Like I said, the issue isn't beating teams, it's getting enough MT points. If you ask me the way points are given is flawed. YOu can completely ouclass a team and still not earn enough points to advance.

The entire premise of domination and the way it encourages maximum cheese and minimum actual basketball is what makes it feel like a massive grind and not fun IMO.

100% agree.

There has to be a better way to judge/grade 'domination'.

Why can't lockdown defense and holding the opposition to under 40% shooting be considering dominating the opponent? The mode does nothing except FORCE and TEACH players how to cheese.

Get Dirk and ROTY Ewing and do post-fade all day long. I was able to learn Ewing's post fade and get green like 80% of time. If you are on PS4, use the touchpad to call for quick post up to get them into position.
Also, purposefully not defend their outside shooter and just focus on defensive rebound. Fast breaking gets you tons of points in very short time.
You must not run any play because it kills time.
Get Dell Curry because his 3 points hot zone covers everywhere. His release is easy too ... So just go for pick-and-fade with him. Also, don't take more than 5 3s unless you are 0-5.

Ugh, i was hoping this wasn't what I had to do. It just isn't fun.

I told you guys...I dont have to cheese or shoot any post shots to win. I win just like you said, with lockdown defense and great scoring. The only thing about my squads are they are Amethysts/Gold. I still have a ways to go in Historic but I havent had much problems yet. Came up short against ATL the first time with about 700MT, but next game had 900MT. its all about the pace. That first game I knew I was not gonna make it because I started out slow. My goal is to get 200MT in a quarter, so if you have a quarter like that you will likely win. You need to get at least 150 though to guarantee victory.

its really not much emphasis placed on outscoring a team though, not from my view. its more on defense, rebounding, and assists. those 3 things. thats where the most points come from. and when I say defense I mean steals and blocks.

your lineup just isnt good enough to get the MT without cheesing. you gotta cheese with that lineup. what system are you on? you should be able to afford some better defensive players.

your lineup is not total trash but you need to insert some guys that can get you some steals/blocks that lead to fast break points.

you need a good pick pocket. if you dont have the MT, then sell someone and get Moments Jordan. he is one of your best options for early Domination.

you need a reliable 3-point shooter to insure you can outscore the cpu. Klay Thompson is dirt cheap on xb1, just saw one for 4k.

you need a 4 great shot blockers. they are pretty cheap too. when I first started I used Chandler/Sanders and off the bench Gobert and Reggie Evans. (Evans isnt a shot blocker but he gets a ton of rebounds and steals) Once I got more players I upgraded my lineup to include Dwight, Whiteside, Drummond, and Deandre. Hibbert is good, but you need to get Trevor Booker out of there. He is a great silver PF but not suited for Domination. I used Hibbert/Noah combo in the past.

I also started off with Devin Booker and he was great until I was able to upgrade to Klay. Those were the days when it was fun to actually grind. When we started with nothing but bronze players. Heck, my first SG when I started Dom was Alan Anderson.

Does anyone have advice /tips specifically for beating the nba all stars? I have no problem dropping 850+ mt against all ither teams but ive tried 4-5 times against the last team and cant get past the 790's against them. Even tried sending the game to OT but i still fell short.

I havent beaten Historic yet, dont remember what I did in regular but my formula is usually the same. assists, rebounds, blocks, steals. the assists are very key and I always have a large number because in half court I always run plays.

I can recommend setting defensive settings to half court press. This leads to less ball possesion of the CPU because of stupid turnovers. As some of you said, pace is very important - so don't let CPU hold the ball too long. I used this for beating the last games in historic domination.
