***DPOY Sidney Moncrief Review***

First and foremost let's start this review with a quote coming from the legend we all know and admire.

"When you play against Moncrief, you're in for a night of all-around basketball. He'll hound you everywhere you go, both ends of the court. You just expect it." MJ

Moncrief has been great since purchasing him last week for 2500mt. I use him in Gauntlet, solo challenges and most recently in RTTP.

At 6'3 he plays bigger than his actual size. He's strong and one of the best finishers in the game. I complete a lot of lay-ups and dunks in traffic, it's quite shocking actually. He gets fouled a lot and his free throw shot is smooth as butter.

His outside shooting from deep is terrible but his mid-range game is flawless, considering its in the mid 80s. His shot release is smooth and he RARELY misses wide open jumpers. A lot players tend to sag off him due to his 3pt rating, bad choice. The last thing anyone wants is a strong finisher with solid passing ability getting in the paint, trust me haha. The only PGs off the top of my head strong enough to contain him is Magic and Oscar (could be more but can think of any). I've had the opportunity to enjoy many posters on guys substantially bigger than his player model.

On defence the numbers speak for themselves. He's a Rottweiler and doesn't let up. I have successfully shut down players from the 1-3 positions including: DPOY Jordan, Paul George, Westbrook, Curry, Irving, Wall, Klay, and many more. I will say this again, Moncrief is not a pushover. Don't let his height fool you or deter you from using him. He holds his own, and doesn't get bullied.

I know what everyone is saying now, he's not a PG. This is true BUT at the PG and SG he's equally dangerous in both positions. For the sake of his 3pt rating I put him at PG and rely on my SG, SF, and PF for long range attempts.

Personality Badges: Comes with Alpha Dog, cool and collected (never goes on a cold streak), defensive anchor, heart and soul (great for momentum swings), and a few more.

Signature Badges: Comes with 17 and 3 extra slots to add more. I added pick and roll maestro and dimer since I play him at the point often.

Overall Moncrief can be useful in any system. He can do it all except shoot 3s. Very few players come close to what Moncrief can do in this game and I feel he deserves to be recognized.

"Prepare for grief when you play against Moncrief" (Just made that up haha)

Interesting.. I own the DPOY copy but have yet to try him. Also, I played someone in rttp who was using him and he did absolutely nothing with him, probably it was just the player didn't know how to use him.

Thanks for the review.

Re: ***DPOY Sidney Moncrief Review***

I bought the Historic version early in my MyTeam journey...mostly because I wanted to build a team built around defense. Like you, I also mostly played him at PG...and some as a 2.

My problem was that I had trouble using him to get to the rim...maybe it was because I was still sort of getting a feel for this new version of 2K? Because I played a game yesterday where I was able to get to the basket with friggin' Marquis Teague.

I might have to take another look at the DOPY Moncrief...I do love defense and already own several of the DPOY cards - Wallace, Rodman, Artest.

I actually made a surprising number of 3's with the Historic version which has a 68 ST3PT...especially from the corner. Looks like that's not really an option with the DPOY version with only a 50.

Preach my dude. Moncrief is a beast. I got him playing PG replacing DPOY Payton. Straight up beast on the fast break. And when he comin of those screens it's an automatic 2 points.

Never faced a team with him in a lineup surprisingly. Absolute monster for me tho. Cooper is the other DPOY, use him at 2 and 1 off the bench with limited time, spark plug beast, just comes in and tears sxxt up. I don't get how they are so cheap too, like got both for 3k early on.

Mutombo should be amethyst the way he dominates in the paint, it's ridiculous, Shaq like dunking machine.

Re: ***DPOY Sidney Moncrief Review***

I'm replacing dynamic John Wall with DPOY Sidney Moncrief for a few games in first seed Road to the Playoffs to see how Moncrief can handle being my bench point guard. I gave him a speed shoe to get up to 93 speed and the first game he locked down my opponent's Amethyst LeBron James and Damian Lillard cards. Second game he shutdown Steph Curry and Kyrie Irving. I'm mainly interested in seeing how much Moncrief's anchor badge and 95+ defensive ratings can help out my second unit's defense.

Glad he is working out for you! He's a hidden gem in this game. Off the bench as a defensive specialist is a perfect way to use him in RTTP. I just picked up Moments Lilliard and thinking to have him start with Moncrief backing him up off the bench.

Re: ***DPOY Sidney Moncrief Review***

Just wanted to add another vote for this card fully badged out. He plays like an amethyst.

I added dimer since he gets so much playing time and my offense hasn't missed a beat. Still trying to figure out his style for the other badges.

This guy can lock up any wing in the game.
