Yeah, at mid-Amethyst level, you get two-way players who are pretty much elite on both ends of the court. In a way, this can be the case going down to high-end Golds.

For RttP, I have been finding defense a big differentiator. I'm generally shooting pretty well, when compared to real life: over 50%. (I know that really good players are probably more like 55-65%.) And I'm holding opponents to below 50%. Doing it with a lineup that treats defense as really important, though definitely not the end-all, be-all:

3 Gold Lineup:
PG: Russell Westbrook / Nick Collison
SG: ROTY Jordan / John Starks
SF: DPOY Kawhi Leonard (or Klay Thompson) / '89 Pippen
PF: 6MOTY Cliff Robinson / Kenneth Faried
C: Tyson Chandler / Jonas Valanciunas

Deep Bench Candidates: DeMarre Carroll, DYN Boban Marjanovich, Shareef Abdur-Raheem, Kristaps Porzingis, Giannis, DYN Jahlil Okafor, DYN Derrick Rose

Defensively, I'm weakest at PF. Have had some issues with some guys trying to spam PFA's and Post Spins with LMA. But Cliffy and Shareef are pretty decent and I don't want to take the speed hit to go with someone like Horace Grant.

In general, I'm going for more well-rounded "good" at many things at all positions, rather than total specialists. Even in my bench squad. I try to throw in niche specialists into my bottom 3 bench positions.

I echo your statements. Here is my 3-gold lineup that I ran through restricted seeds with.

PG: Billups/Beverly/TBT Bledsoe
SG: Penny/Starks
SF: Rockets T-Mac/Silver Pippen/Demarre
PF: Raptors Oakley/6MOTY Cliffy
C: Tyson Chandler/Gobert/Silver Alonzo

Billups and Beverly are lockdown guys at the PG. Bledsoe is mainly for offense but ok on D and has good steal rating.

Reward Penny is a solid defender with size, does good job on most SG's. Starks is solid defender as well. Both of these guys can shoot it and finish in the open court. Penny brings a lot because he has Floor General badge.

T-Mac is solid defender that has Anchor badge. Pippen is average defender but length makes him better, also has Anchor badge. Those two guys are elite finishers. Demarre is solid 3/D guy, one of my favorite silvers.

Raptors Oakley has been a true diamond in the rough for me. He is a great defender for such a low rated silver. Has Anchor badge and Enforcer. He has 75 standing 3pt with 85 off-consistency and I usually put a +9 shoe on him to make his off-consistency 94. He knocks 3's and mids if left alone because his release is easy. He is good on the glass and is a surprisingly strong finisher around the rim. He also has a lot of useful badges. I badged him out and added Offensive Crasher. 6MOTY Cliffy is there for scoring because he is athletic, fast and can shoot. Not a great defender but holds his own within the team concept.

Chandler of course is solid defender and rebounder as is Alonzo and both have Anchor. Alonzo can score in the post and has a ton of badges. Gobert is solid rebounder and defender as well.

I have some slow bigs but really, it hasnt bothered me at all. Chandler is fast enough to offset low speed of Oakley, likewise with Cliffy and Gobert/Alonzo. My bigs do damage in half court setting strong picks, working the boards and playing good D.

Billups and Beverley are elite defenders already and even better with one of the 5 Anchors on the floor. Bledsoe has elite speed, Floor General, Alpha Dog, and Closer badge.

As you can see defense was a heavy emphasis on this team...and though its not very best defensive team you could put together its one of the deadliest because every player can hurt you on the offensive end. The least offensive threats are Chandler and Gobert but they are the best finishers around the basket so they can get putbacks or get open for easy jam.

One game this guy was beating me by 20 points going into the 2nd half. My starters couldnt get it going. Put my bench in the entire 3rd quarter, by the time the 4th started I was up by 3. Put my starters back in and won by more than 10. Thats how explosive this team is, but its because of the great defense from the 1st and 2nd units along with great shooting and transition offense. Very balanced all around team.

Re: anybody ever try making a Defensive Team?

My current team in the 3rd seed has a ovr 98 defense ratings. It can prob be 99 if i did not fill the last spots with scrubs. Only struggle I get on D is the occasional transition cheese where none of my guys walk back.

Re: anybody ever try making a Defensive Team?

All of my teams are made up of the most elite defenders in the game. I never ever put someone on my team that has low defensive IQ ratings.

Though Diamond Melo is the best offensive card in the game, he would never play a minute on my team....even if I pulled him.

Guys like Gary Payton, Hakeem, MJ, Kawhi, Draymond, Scottie Pippen, Big O, Klay, Ben Wallace, Dennis Rodman are guys that I keep on my teams every year of My Team. I hate guys like Kyrie, Harden, Durant, Melo, Lillard, Cousins etc. Can't tolerate dumb defenders.

Re: anybody ever try making a Defensive Team?

PG DPoY Gary Payton
SG DPoY MJ
SF Amethyst Pippen
PF DPoY KG
C DPoY Hakeem Olajuwon

That was my starting lineup at one point(gold players off the bench except for Alonzo Mourning). My bench had at last 5 players that had great defense and some good 3 point shooters(since my starting lineup sucked there). I had Kawhi(DpoY card)and Paul George coming off the bench. That was an amazing team defensively.

http://2kmtcentral.com/16/lineups/37290/rttp

that was team I used to get to unrestricted seeds. everyone on that team comes equipped with a PLD badge except Penny (who is a solid defender at SG that I added PLD to) and Cliffy....who would now be replaced by defensive upgrade DR Ibaka as my stretch 4. There are 5 players on there that have Defensive Anchor badge....6 if you put Ibaka in the lineup. My objective is to have 2 Anchors on the floor at all times...but at the least 1.

http://2kmtcentral.com/16/lineups/60592/dc

Harden is only on this team for late game shooting...other than that he hardly plays.

http://2kmtcentral.com/16/lineups/21...tp-bronze-team

what I used in qualifying seeds. but today, I would replace Rose as my 1-silver with Pippen. Mbah A Moute has since went silver but was a great 3/D bronze for me and at times I used Jerami Grant as his backup. All players here can defend except Marshall who is there because of Floor General and Dimer badges...and James Anderson who was since replaced with Jerami.

http://2kmtcentral.com/16/lineups/68...and-playmaking

very fluid offensive/defensive unit. the odd man here is Grant Hill, who may get spot minutes in the 4th because of Closer badge...but rarely plays.

That'd be interesting to try.
Yeah, for size and D with moderate shooting on the wings, run DPOY Artest at point, DPOY Kawhi at the 2, Lebron at 3, DPOY Mutombo at 4 and Muresan at center. Offense runs through Lebron. Pick and roll action on offense. Turbo back to clog middle on breaks with 'kembe or Gheorge, whoever's closer
